The Parked Blue Van: January 2009
http://parkedbluevan.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 1, 2009. Gearing up for another semester. Another semester beckons, and is fast approaching! Under Will's direction, the Critical Thinking class took on a new dimension this fall. We applied the critical thinking skills we were learning to the recent presidential election debates through posts on our discussion board. It was surprising the extent to which we picked out the hyperbole and fallacies of the campaigns' rhetoric even after only a few weeks into the course. Links to this post.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009. More on Morning People. Since Blackbird has led off on a rant about Morning People, ( http:/ black-bird-sings.blogspot.com/2009/01/morning-people.html. All joking and ribbing of Morning People aside, though, just recently there was an interesting article by Robert Boyd of McClatchy Newspapers you can read on Yahoo News at http:/ news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20090205/sc mcclatchy/3161423/print. The Parked Blue Van: Summer Reading
http://parkedbluevan.blogspot.com/2008/08/once-reason-i-was-happy-to-see-end-of.html
Friday, August 22, 2008. This comment has been removed by the author. August 24, 2008 at 1:02 PM. Andy Egizi, Program Coordinator. Think I'll look for the Witold Rybczynski book. My wife works for the American Institute of Architects. She's taught me a thing or two about the field, some of which is only tangentally related to a building. For example, she told me a few years ago about green roofs - planting a roof to save on energy costs - and now we have one on the UIS campus. August 24, 2008 at 1:03 PM.
The Parked Blue Van: Biker Blues
http://parkedbluevan.blogspot.com/2009/04/biker-blues.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Well The weather's warming up, and it's almost time to get my bike out of the storage shed. This winter I didn't get it put away in time before it snowed, but I juiced it up real good with WD-40 so it wouldn't rust too bad. As you can tell already I'm not a bike aficionado or a dedicated biker by any means, but still I used to bike around quite a lot. I eventually replaced the stolen wreck with a 10-speed Walmart $35 on-sale special, or 15-speed, or whatever it is, but then I ins...

Taco Punch and other random tales of Mommyness: Mohawks and Mustaches
http://girlkindofshawn.blogspot.com/2008/09/mohawks-and-mustaches.html
Monday, September 1, 2008. This is my 14 year-old. And, yes, that's a mohawk he's sporting. I thought I'd better get photographic proof of it before he shaved it off. With 14 year-olds, you never know what tomorrow brings. I'd like to wax his eyebrows but, he won't let me. He's no fun. But, I don't blame him. Once, when I was getting my eyebrows waxed, my sister-in-law (who is also my stylist) asked if I wanted my mustache waxed. Get it off me! Get it off me! The Girl Kind of Shawn. There's a muppet wiki!

Anne's Random Thoughts: "Old-fashioned blog challenge??"
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/11/old-fashioned-blog-challenge.html
Monday, November 24, 2008. Well, we UIS. By our fearless leader to an "old-fashioned" blog challenge. How it can be old-fashioned when blogs are a new phenomenon, I have no idea, but I'm going with it. So here it goes. This Thanksgiving I am giving thanks for my three amazing, funny, smart, beautiful children who are growing up so fast. I give thanks for my husband who after fifteen years and despite numerous disagreements and all out brawls, still treats me like a queen. In the face of many challenges.

Anne's Random Thoughts: October 2008
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Ok, time for a new post on the importance of grades. On a more depressing note, I just realized that if I continue taking 1 class at a time, it will take me another 5 years to get my BA. There are only 2 semesters per year at UIS not counting summer, which I can't always do. 5 years. Five. Funf. Cinco. Cinq. FIVE MORE YEARS! Sunday, October 19, 2008. More than anything, I am feeling bad about myself because I'm not doing well! Sunday, October 12, 2008. What a lovely day! I was ...

Anne's Random Thoughts: January 2009
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 11, 2009. What a nice break! It has been a few weeks since I blogged, sorry about that, I was recuperating from last semester. I have spent this break reading a lot, and spending time with my kids. The new semester begins this week, I have my books and I am ready to go! Actually, one of the books I already had from another LIS class, so that's nice. I'm looking forward to this class, hopefully I can get through this one with less stress than the last one! Anne's Random Thoughts: Next semester
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/11/next-semester.html
Saturday, November 8, 2008. It's been a while since I posted, I've been busy trying to keep in with my class, but it looks like something is going right since I got an A on my last paper I turned in. There is hope after all! Still waiting to hear from the teacher if he'll let me sign up, I sent him an email last week, so I hope he contacts me quickly! Well, gotta go. The Master and Margarita awaits! Congratulations on your 'A' in class! November 8, 2008 at 2:09 PM. Andy Egizi, Program Coordinator. I'm st...

Anne's Random Thoughts: It's a Christmas conspiracy!
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/11/its-christmas-conspiracy.html
Monday, November 17, 2008. It's a Christmas conspiracy! Here's what I think. I think that the oil conglomerates, being in their. Usual cahoots with big government, have agreed to lower their prices TEMPORARILY to lull Americans into a false sense of security to convince us it is safe to go out and buy those big American made cars with poor gas mileage and to spend spend SPEND on our friends and loved ones to show how much we care for Chrismahannaramakwanzaka. That's what I think. How can that be? If it r...

Anne's Random Thoughts: Made it!
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/12/made-it.html
Wednesday, December 17, 2008. So I have finished my class! I got through it kicking and screaming the whole way, but I made it! And I think I may even get a passing grade! I'm hoping for a B at least - but I am being held in suspense until grades are posted. I am so ready for a break! All of us who made it through one more semester, stand up and applaud for yourselves! This was, without a doubt, the toughest class I've taken in a very long time, and holy cow am I happy it's over! Same time, same station!

Anne's Random Thoughts: February 2009
http://ajennorandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 1, 2009. Sharing something from class. I just want to share something from my current class that I think is very cool. One of the assignments for this week is to select three objects that most define me, here is the question and my answer. Why do these objects represent you or your interests? Give some thought to the following question: "If I had to describe who I am to someone I am meeting for the first time, what three objects would I show them to demonstrate to them who I am?

Views from a ParkedCar
Views from a ParkedCar. Where You Always Seem Smarter. Friday, August 18, 2006. Blood on Her Hands. We've always found the Wall Street Journal to be the most intriguing of newspapers. Journalistically, they are one of the top papers in the world. Editorially, what they lack in insight they more than make up for in conservative consistency. Protecting civil liberties is never easy but assuming for the moment that Judge Taylor's right, isn't that exactly why we have 2000 dying in Iraq in the first place?
