Monday, August 29, 2005. More on The Village. When Wops and I got to the village it was afternoon, and still pretty busy. We wandered around, through doorways, up and down steps, and eventually found our way to the beach. I looked for one of the huge, white bubbles, but I guess I had to try escaping before I found one, and the place was just to nice to want to escape from. The above picture is of The Prisoner Shop. Parys Mountain, Amlwch, Anglesey

The Mona and Parys copper mines were located on Parys Mountain about two miles south of Amlwch in Anglesey. It was here on 2nd March 1768, that a large vein of copper ore was discovered. This later developed into the largest copper mine in the world. Parys Mountain retains the scars of mining activity since 1768. A number of building and artefacts remain. However it is the vivid colours caused by the processes used to extract the ore which visitors admire today. Things to do at Parys Mountain.
