Pass The Potatoes: March 2010

http://passthepotatoes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Tuesday, March 09, 2010. This post went pretty long. The last part of it is the best part if you want to skip around. Originally the trip was going to be a 10 hour day sail from Grasonville, MD (just over the Bay Bridge) to Annapolis and back. It was cold, about 40 degrees, with a north wind blowing around 18 knots or so. We were all bundled up pretty tightly. After a somewhat eventful motoring involving mistaken lights, hard to find markers...

Pass The Potatoes: April 2009

http://passthepotatoes.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Sunday, April 26, 2009. It is 1 am. I have returned from hanging out on a friends deck with some other peeps and drinking some wine. I am listening to a song that helped me through a difficult part of my life right now (posted at the end of this) and I have decided to just babble and see where it goes. Haven't done this in a while. Buckle your seat belts. Have you ever been in a place in your life where a single song really helps you through?

A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Friday, October 31, 2008. The Mortgage Crisis - What Caused It. A friend of mine sent out an email recently making a case for regulation causing the mortgage crisis, as opposed to de-regulation. I've asked him if I could post or link to (if available) his argument. In either case, I wanted to post my rebuttal. Please feel free to chime in with questions or comments. I think you missed some stuff while overstating the case in other places.

Pass The Potatoes: Civil Rights and the Republican Party

http://passthepotatoes.blogspot.com/2010/02/civil-rights-and-republican-party.html

A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Civil Rights and the Republican Party. To this day, polling from the south compared to the rest of the country yields very different results. It really is remarkable. In a nutshell, the Democratic and Republican parties had a realignment that put much of the Republican's support in the south where the majority of it remains today. Votes are listed in Yeas-nays format. The original House version:. The Year in Pop.

A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Monday, March 30, 2009. I want me a border collie, damn it. Links to this post. Thursday, March 26, 2009. Someone else coined the phrase. I dish out advice, whether it is good or not is up to debate I suppose. I guess it is part of my ever evolving personal philosophy that I like to spread around because it works for me. Your mileage may vary. Labels get in the way. Know where your shit ends and someone else's begins. How many times have you...

Barley Fields: Legends of the Fall

http://barley.blogspot.com/2005/11/legends-of-fall.html

Many years have passed since those summer days, among the fields of barley. Thursday, November 03, 2005. Legends of the Fall. Now speaking of getting ready for the new baby, we had another sonogram a couple weeks ago. Although it's not 100%, we were told that this time it looks like a girl! Face The top of the head is to the right, and you can see the little nose and lips. Pretty exciting stuff! And Michelle (and without the babies) to our favorite German place, the Schmankerl Stube. A blog about self-discovery, politics, and general awesomeness. Friday, March 04, 2011. It turns out I have something of an aptitude to it. Either that or my teachers are blowing smoke up my ass. Either way, I have been having fun doing it. My background in music really helps as it allows me to pick out the beat and understand phrasing. Sometimes the phrasing thing is annoying during group classes because everyone else starts and I'm waiting for the beginning of the phrase. Links to this post. I tell you...

Monday, May 23, 2011. No Recipe Required Veggie Stew. Give me a baked potato any day of the week. I know of no healthier way to fill up than with starches - and potatoes are my fave. Most people are scared to death of them - and for good reason I guess! The diet industry has manipulated the public into believing that anything WHITE is automatically bad! I even read recently that if you are on welfare, you can't purchase russet potatoes with your food stamps! Don't blame the poor potato! So glad you asked!
