Pat Gower Photography Blog: April 2014
http://patgower.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Pat Gower Photography Blog. Website www.patgower.com. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Kathy and I spent three days in Bruges Belgium in April. We rented a nice apartment just a few blocks from the Markt. One of the top rated restaurants in Bruges, Ribs n Beer, was just across the street. Here are some of my favorite pictures from Bruges. This statue of Papageno, the bird catcher, stands outside of one of the best preserved theatres in Europe. A picture from inside the Basilica. Ezelpoort - One of the original...

Pat Gower Photography Blog. Website www.patgower.com. Friday, August 22, 2014. Icefields Parkway and Jasper National Park. This blog covers the Canadian Rockies from Lake Louise to Jasper. The Icefield Parkways is a beautiful drive. We started the third day with a 3-1/2 mile walk to the Plains Glacier Tea House above Lake Louise. Shown in this picture is a Clark's Jay. There were a few climbers just off of the trail to the tea house. A better Bow River shot. The Mistaya River and Kaufmann Peaks. Mosquito...

Pat Gower Photography Blog. Website www.patgower.com. Thursday, July 23, 2015. Last Icelandic Blog -Husavik Fishing Village, Puffins, and Horses. This young lad was watching the fishing boats arrive and chewing on what looked to be a pickle. A typical Icelandic lass checking out the day's catch. Besides the fishing boats there were wooden sail boats and schooners in the harbor. Quite a few whale watching tours leave from Husavik. Humpbacks and Minke Whales are common. Occasionally people see ...The puffi...

Pat Gower Photography Blog. Website www.patgower.com. Monday, July 13, 2015. Iceland - Landscapes, Children, and Puffins. These Icelandic horses nicely framed a small church in the northeast highlands of Iceland. Our cloudy weather continues. We are in early tonight because it is raining. We shot more puffin pictures today in a cold windy rain. Got some great shots of flying puffins with fish and shrimp in their beaks. Will put some of those pictures in my last blog from Iceland. Folaldafoss waterfall - ...

the unencumbered life: July 2012
http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. We slept in our new home for the first time Saturday night. It was a rainy night/morning and we didn’t have to trek across the soggy yard in our bathrobes and slippers. It is good to be home. No, we are not finished…but we’re close. Our first summer guests are expected later this week and the reds (sockeye salmon) have started running in the Kenai River. We need to finish the house so that we can turn our attention to both. And probably limit out on yearly permit as well!

the unencumbered life: Madrid
http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2014/12/madrid.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Lleida to Madrid was about a six-hour drive and we had our sights on strolling through El Rastro, Madrid’s every Sunday open air flea market. Merchants fold up their tents and tables at 3:00 so we got an early start. Craggy hills to wide open plains. The Osborne bull: 46 ft high black silhouetted. Image of a bull. In semi-profile. Swatches of windmills. Towns with prominent domed churches. An army procession. Even a rainbow. Show Pam and I resisted. He won. Villa Rosa, ...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Final" pictures are here. In parting, here's a list of observations we've made:. Doesn't look like anything has changed in years.about 400 years. Muted colors, void of decorations.except in alpine - colorful with attention to decorative details. Roads through villages were built after the advent of automobile = no wider than footpath in some places. People are still very connected to the soil. Lifestyle is much less stressful.slower. Loud - scooters everywhere. Much more moun...

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Have about half the halibut we want for our “quota”. Could halibut fish every day if conditions were right. Love the water, the peacefulness, the scenery, the time with my honey, the “hit” and reeling in. Having food for the freezer to share is a bonus. Took Stan (the camper) to pick up Hannah and Nick on Friday. Realized this is Hannah’s sixth visit to Alaska (! Ten times. And they have pictures to prove it. Awesome. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. the unencumbered life: Cartagena aka Carthage
http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2014/12/cartagena-aka-carthage.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2014. My plan was to “do” the Andalusian countryside, maybe take in Granada, Seville, and Cordoba. Cullera wasn’t on the original list. Neither was Cartagena or Carthage to those who know their Roman history. Greg saw it on the map and said he was interested so that was the direction we pointed the car. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The computer wouldn’t boot and I got behind on my travel postings. Turns out there was a software malfunction that corrected itself upon our return stateside. Have no idea who reads these posts but they serve as excellent reminders to me of travels past, so even though I’m two weeks late here is the rest of Spain 2014. The posts are in chronological order. Saturday, April 20, 2013. What a busy, full fall, winter, and spring it has been! We arrived back in the south in time for a good friend’s son’s wedding. Then made a trek. To TX to visit the folks. Greg and Dad went fishing…in the pictures. Those are all different. Fish We stopped in Little Rock, AR on the way home. I toured the Clinton Library and Greg tooled around in Heifer International’s Headquarters. Had a mini-reunion with some friends from UGA days. Where does 30 years go? Brags that I navigated ...

Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Tuscany, Assisi, Florence. Spent a relaxing day (mostly) at the apartment. Bought some groceries. Visited a small castle. Did some laundry (washed then dried on line). Read a bit. Started planning our Rome itinerary. Today we drove into Florence early and walked in the Academia Gallery (Michelangelo's David) without a reservation! Tomorrow on to Sienna, a midieval walled city, then Elba, island of Napoleonic exile fame. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. Riviera back to Tuscany.

I even got to see a humpback whale breach with a couple of them. And then they were gone and. We were back to “business”…. Greg and I have put our nets in the water four (or was it five? Times and have only thirteen sockeyes to show for it. Bah. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Passed the NC Real Estate Exam first attempt. Whoot!

Loss in 80's Hair Metal. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Song Analysis 2 - If I Close My Eyes Forever. If I Close My Eyes Forever. Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford. Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand. Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy? Heaven, is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you. What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy? If I close my eyes forever. Would it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever. Would it all remain the same? Here she is s...
