Patrice Speaks

I was born in the mid 50's and grew up in the South. I'm 53 years young now. I'm a wife, a mother, grandmother, a daughter. But most importantly I am a child of God. I've learned a lot so far and I'm satisfied with my life most of the time...though I'm honest enough to admit that I'm not perfect yet. I haven't given up though!

Seeking the Light: How Things Have Changed!

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-things-have-changed.html

Wednesday, May 13, 2009. How Things Have Changed! But what if I'm the one who is so out-of-step in my thinking that I don't understand that things have changed so much that being pregnant outside of marriage no longer carries any stigma at all? The sin is the same whether or not a baby is made. This is basic biology and is almost as old as the human race itself. I don't intend to defend the hypocrisy and sometimes outright deception that characterized such attempts to cover up scandalous behavior. It...

Seeking the Light: December 2008

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 25, 2008. Thoughts on a White Christmas. Please, let's get on with our normal damp, drizzly 38 degree Northwest weather. Let's try to be grateful for every good and perfect gift from the Father of lights. Whether it is the beauty and excitement of falling snow, or manna to fill our stomachs, or the riches of God's spiritual blessings, let us acknowledge that God loves us and cares for our needs without fail. Let that never be an insignificant thing in our thinking! Heavenly Ambition - ...

Seeking the Light: April 2009

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 11, 2009. The Almighty NCAA Needs Cutting Down to Size. C'mon, all you big-name, high school basketball superstars, you need to accept a scholarship from XYZ State University and be a part of their great legacy of winning. Apparently, I've just broken an NCAA rule and gotten dear ol' XYZ State into all kinds of trouble with the powers that regulate college recruiting. Assuming of course, that the NCAA can find XYZ State on their list of members. The NCAA does have a tough job trying to po...

Seeking the Light: October 2008

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 9, 2008. How a Bull-headed Doctor Saved the Newsman's Life. David Brinkley was one of the best known and most highly respected newsmen of the 20. Century. From NBC’s Huntley-Brinkley Report. To ABC’s This Week With David Brinkley. He was a regular face on television news for nearly 50 years. However, if it had not been for bureaucratic stubbornness, Brinkley probably would not have been around to experience that successful career. Rather than wait to be drafted, Brinkley joined the army.

Seeking the Light: November 2008

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 13, 2008. If I suddenly found myself boss at MSNBC, the left-leaning cable news channel, I would probably clean house of all the on-air personalities. I'd take great pleasure in giving the axe to the likes of Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews. In my totally "unbiased" opinion, these fellows are disgraces to journalism. The world would be a better place if their faces never disgraced another television screen. Now, do you want me to tell you how I really feel? Because one day last week...

Seeking the Light: Is It Smart to Send Away Customers?

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2009/08/is-it-smart-to-send-away-customers.html

Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Is It Smart to Send Away Customers? Trish and I tried to check into a LaQuinta motel about 1 pm yesterday afternoon. Sorry, check-in time is 3 o'clock," I was informed by the desk clerk. I wasn't surprised, but decided to ask some questions just for fun. "Do you have any clean rooms? Yes," she admitted. But I can't have one of them now? I asked, already knowing the answer she would give. No," she said simply. However, it cannot be smart business tactics to send away customers bec...

Seeking the Light: History and Time

http://lightseeking.blogspot.com/2009/06/history-and-time.html

Tuesday, June 23, 2009. On the June 22 Jeopardy. I will confess that presidential trivia is a hobby of mine and I can usually answer any Jeopardy. However, there is a definite linkage between an understanding of the time sequence of historical events and one's enjoyment and appreciation of history. If you have a general idea of when. If this is true, it offers an obvious key about how we should be teaching history. If the Jeopardy. By the way, if you thought President Obama was the 44th person to be Pres...

Patrice's Playpen

Monday, June 30, 2008. I'm still alive and knitting. There are two new finished projects since the last post. One I was out of my mind when I agreed to knit.TWENTY THREE Bluebirds. For the end of school. In the long run they were loved by my son's 3rd grade class. There are even requests for more which as of right now I will not be making. Everything was knit according to the pattern. The only changes were I used fabric paint for the eyes and some left over orange yarn for the beaks. Baby Cable Rib Socks.
