Strictly Baking: April 2012
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 21 April 2012. This week my youngest niece celebrated her first birthday. I’ve been day dreaming of the possibility of creating a Carousel Cake for the past year and quickly decided to take the opportunity of this milestone occasion to give it a go. With no specific theme request I could challenge myself safe in the knowledge that if it didn’t work to plan a quick change of direction could easily be arranged and no one need be any the wiser. Strictly Baking: October 2012
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 October 2012. This week my brother turned the ripe old age of 40 and my sister-in-law asked if I would make a cake to mark the day. He decided he didn't want a party so it was just cake and candles with family on Wednesday evening after work. As I'm incredibly busy at work these days, I didn't have time for elaborate decoration. I've been looking for an opportunity to make an Explosion Parcel Cake for some time, so this was the perfect occasion. Explosion Parcel Cake, 24th October 2012.

Strictly Baking: Halloween - Witch's Brew Cake
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012/11/halloween-witchs-brew-cake.html
Sunday, 11 November 2012. Halloween - Witch's Brew Cake. This Halloween I thought it would be nice to make a festive cake for the nearest and dearest children in my life. I had the same idea last year but time ran out and I didn't get to make it. So this year, on the Bank Holiday Monday, I decided to indulge myself and spent a great day in the kitchen. Strictly Baking: Halloween - Wizard's Shrinking Spell Cake
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012/11/halloween-wizards-shrinking-spell-cake.html
Sunday, 11 November 2012. Halloween - Wizard's Shrinking Spell Cake. This cake is the first novelty cake I ever made, while attending cake decorating night classes in a local VEC. It was the creation of this cake and particularly the modelling of the wizard that made me think that perhaps I might not be too bad at this decorating lark! My journey of cake decorating beyond this one are documented on this blog for all to share. Halloween -Wizard's Shrinking Spell Cake, October 2010. Novelty cake - adult.

Strictly Baking: November 2012
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 11 November 2012. My good friend and work colleague, Ashley, has a lovely little daughter, Ava, who was 6 this November. From Ava's first birthday my gift every year has been to make the Birthday Cake. As my cake decorating has evolved over the past 3 years, Ava's Birthday Cake has stepped up in decorative terms. The final cake was one I was very pleased with and more importantly Ava was thrilled with her cake. In particular she loved the 'blood' dripping from Zommer Monster. The cake was complet...

Strictly Baking: Barbie Doll Cake
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2013/01/barbie-doll-cake.html
Wednesday, 2 January 2013. Last Sunday the wonderful Isabelle D'Arcy celebrated her 6th birthday. Isabelle plans on having a party with her friends in the coming weeks following the return to school and so her Birthday Cake will be made for this party. However, the day of her birthday was to be marked by a small gathering of family and I offered to make a 'simple' surprise cake for the day. Barbie Doll Cake, 30th December 2012. Strictly Baking: March 2012
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 March 2012. In April 2011, I received an order for a birthday cake for a young lady who was turning 11. The Birthday Girl had attended her cousin’s party the previous Christmas and seen her Princess’ Castle Cake. Suitably impressed and with her own big day looming she announced to her mother that all she wanted for her birthday was one of my cakes. How lovely is that? Compliments are never greater than when they come from children. So armed with a brief of a ‘Simpsons’. 17th April, 2011.

Strictly Baking: Parcel Christening Cake
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012/10/parcel-christening-cake.html
Sunday, 21 October 2012. Last weekend was baby Luke's Christening. Inspired by my profile photo, Luke's mum Carol asked if I could make a parcel cake appropriate for a little boy's Christening. Blue and white were the obvious colours to choose. I'm a sucker for teddy bears when it comes to babies cakes and felt the cake wouldn't be complete without one. The little booties finished the look. The final cake was very cute and Carol loved it when she called to collect it. 22 October 2012 at 10:06.

Strictly Baking: June 2012
http://strictlybaking.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 24 June 2012. This week my eldest niece, Ciara, celebrated her 7. She had decided last February what theme she would like for her cake and this had remained a solid request throughout the months that followed. However, 2 weeks ago my mother phoned to let me know that there may be a change. The previous day Ciara had asked her Granny if I had started her cake, because she now wanted a horse cake. After asking some further questions I learned that a show jumping theme was what Ciara now wanted.
