Gregory Gyllenship: June 2014
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 17 June 2014. I expect some of you will have already seen this bear and his friend on my website or on Facebook. I thought I would take a few moments to explain how he came about and how I surprised myself by entering him in a competition. So I set out to make a bear just like him, I was going to dare to leave his tummy open and holes in his feet. This bear was all set to remain unsold at home, after all how can I sell a bear which looks as if it is coming apart. As a final touch on the finished...
Gregory Gyllenship: July 2015
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 21 July 2015. Designed for the package. I never thought I would consciously design a bear to fit a carton but I decided that I would modify and shrink a version of the 6 joint standing pattern. And all of this also produced a pattern which is a comfortable size for me to make and stuff, so born from creativity and shaped by postal costs I thought I would share some pictures of the new bears. These first four are sold but more will be available over the coming months. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Gregory Gyllenship: May 2015
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 14 May 2015. It's not my habit to share work in progress pictures but I thought I might just reveal a little before and after. One of my personal preferences when I make traditional bears is to create them with a look and feel that I think is generally referred to as care-worn. The expression is widely used and seems to cover every level of care worn from slightly matted to totally mangled according to the artist's intentions. More pictures of Oliver on my website while he is for sale. A recent...

Gregory Gyllenship: Buttons and Bows
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2015/04/buttons-and-bows.html
Tuesday, 28 April 2015. I seem to be in classic bear mode at the moment, my work schedule goes along with what I enjoy most and I have been enjoying smaller vintage bears. So the latest one, Mortimer, now also has a bow tie, made from the cotton fabric I used for the back of his waistcoat. I often dream about making more fully costumed bears, but as it takes me the best part of a week to make a bear nowadays I can't see that happening anytime soon. Labels: classic teddy bear. hugoshouse. Doug Hyde, Artist.
Gregory Gyllenship: March 2014
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 11 March 2014. Places and songs hold special memories for many people. In my little world one of those places is Polesden Lacey; my mum enjoyed visiting the house and gardens and in more recent years it has become a regular favourite for morning dog walks. The house stands in a large estate and a walk around the nearer lanes is just about right for the Newfies. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Surrey, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. Gregory Gyllenship: New Work Room
http://gyllenship.blogspot.com/2014/05/new-work-room.html
Sunday, 11 May 2014. The transformation is just about complete and I am back to work in a freshly decorated and refurnished work room. There is now plenty of room for Angus and Mr Bond to join me, I chose a large curved corner desk to provide plenty of space to lay things out and this also creates a very cosy shelter for the dogs. So to strip it out to bare walls and replace every thing from the floor up was very cleansing and symbolic of the fresh start I have made. 12 May 2014 at 01:03. I am thrilled f...

Paula's Travels | My trips around the world
My trips around the world. I landed in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, at about 11pm. Fortunately the hotel was a short drive from the airport, and I was soon united with my friend and travelling companion Andrew and could get some rest after my long flight via Paris. Butchery, Malagasy style. We passed beside many rice paddies at different stages of cultivation; some being planted, some being ploughed by zebu cattle and some being picked. Cattle egrets and geese dotted the water. The traffic was hea...

Paula Stribling, wildlife photographer
The photographs on this web-site range from the Royal Bengal Tiger at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to the sleepy lions of the Serengeti. From the stunning migration around Ndutu, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, to the elusive Takahe in the wilds of New Zealand. Closer to home you will find the comical Puffins of Skomer and some European owls. If you love wildlife as much as I do, you should have fun with this web-site. I hope you enjoy my photographs.
