http://paulship.blogspot.com/2010/11/woo-hoo-oh-heck.html
My blog about FAI, diagnosis, treatment and troubles. I love skiing/snowboarding but, for obvious reasons, haven’t done it for a couple of years. This time last year I thought I’d never be able to do it again… Well, I’m booked up for my first ski trip post-op and in 7 weeks I’ll be putting my hip to the test in a full-on way. Tuesday, November 09, 2010. 9 November 2010 at 19:12. Grr And oww :(. 9 November 2010 at 20:11. Sorry to hear that B. Only a few weeks til the next op? 6 December 2010 at 17:38.
One Hip Blog: Questions for my surgeon
http://paulship.blogspot.com/2009/11/questions-for-my-surgeon.html
My blog about FAI, diagnosis, treatment and troubles. Questions for my surgeon. On Wednesday I have a consultation with my surgeon to ask a few final questions. It’s been rescheduled for 8.15am, which considering I live 90 miles away means a very early start! I will ask…. My usual hip problem returned at the weekend after a rain-avoiding dash in Sainsbury’s car park. Considering I’ve had the hip block, should I have felt this as I did? Is this going a fix a problem that isn’t the real. I’ve had mod...
One Hip Blog: 1 month post op
http://paulship.blogspot.com/2010/01/1-month-post-op.html
My blog about FAI, diagnosis, treatment and troubles. 1 month post op. The two incision wounds have healed and all that remains are quite minor pinky scars, which will soon be almost invisible anyway (having hairy legs has its benefits). The scar tissue beneath the skin is a little lumpy, particularly at the anterior portal, but it’s only noticeable when you apply pressure so it’s no big deal. Get well soon, Louise. What Does Pain Look Like?: August 2011
http://whatdoespainlooklike.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 10 August 2011. 6 weeks, now walk. At last, 6 weeks is up! Right, now what? 6 weeks feels so long when you're on two elbow crutches. But I can now drop to one according to the letter I received from Mr. O a week out of hospital. I've been wandering around the house on one crutch and instantly I feel so liberated! Ermy leg moved outwards lol, but more importantly, I felt it in my butt where you should be feeling it. That was new! Let's get walking :o). Links to this post. It seems life threw me...

What Does Pain Look Like?: Officially bored
http://whatdoespainlooklike.blogspot.com/2011/07/officially-bored.html
Friday, 22 July 2011. It's official. I'm now bored and restless and I don't want to sit on my ass anymore! So that's been 3 weeks off work, at home, on my ass to get to this state of mind. 3 weeks. I have actually been doing some work from home so I don't feel unproductive. I can't focus on work today. It's just the lack of change of scenery! Or maybe it's too little too late? We're even going out tomorrow night for birthday celebrations and I can't shake this horrid cabin fever feeling! Periacetabular O...

What Does Pain Look Like?: April 2011
http://whatdoespainlooklike.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, 7 April 2011. Last week I had an ultrasound scan on my right hip/thigh to check out my muscles for anything that could account for the excessive weakness I still have one year on from my resurfacing surgery. As soon as I make the appointment. Big sigh. So, here we go again. Round 4! Hopefully, as this surgery will not be as invasive as the resurfacing, it won't be so bad. Fingers crossed the detached muscles are still in good shape and haven't part-turned to fat (cos that won't help re-atta...

What Does Pain Look Like?: Like curled ribbon
http://whatdoespainlooklike.blogspot.com/2011/07/like-curled-ribbon.html
Tuesday, 19 July 2011. Mr O told me to stay off my right leg for 6 weeks. His senior registrar told me to stay off my leg for 6 weeks. The physio's told me to stay off my right leg for 6 weeks. 6 weeks! Just let it go stiff, then we'll work on stretching and then strengthening. Until yesterday, perhaps due to swelling, I had not noticed that the muscles have gone as stiff as a board! Here's hoping that this will be the ticket to shifting my hippy limp. It's a very odd sensation. What Does Pain Look Like?

My UK Hip Story. The story of my hip dysplasia, and the Periacetabular Osteotomy Surgeries to correct it. Tuesday, 17 April 2012. A long overdue update. Ooops can't believe how bad I have been at updating this blog! Well I had a very successful post-op appointment in February, everything going well and surgeon was impressed with strength and ROM. I have been cleared of all restrictions and don't need to see him again until next year. So, have just 3 goals left to complete this year,;. 19 July 2013 at 23:21.

What Does Pain Look Like?: November 2010
http://whatdoespainlooklike.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 28 November 2010. Well, it's that time of year again when the evil white stuff (the 'devil's dandruff' as one friend calls it! Dons the ground turning all those with bambi-legs into quivering wreaks! Remarkably, I'm not as terrified as last winter - because there's no pain! So we talked about it momentarily whilst doing exercise and he had to go and jinx it by saying "oh it won't be as bad as last winter, that was exceptional, it might snow, but it'll just last a day like it normally does! Thankf...
