When I was eleven, a friend’s mother came to school and talked to us about her experience living and working in Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Already a geography nerd and travel lover, I’m sure it didn’t surprise my parents when I came home that day and announced that when I grew up I’d join the Peace Corps. After much consideration, I reapplied the Peace Corps and am now set to be a part of the 7th group of volunteers to serve in Colombia since it reopened after more than a 20 year hiatus. I chose Webster University’s Global MA in International Relations. I do recognize my blessings, but as much as I have traveled I do recognize what a small sliver of the planet I really have seen.
