Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Osteogenesis Imperfecta Awareness Video. You may or may not know this, but I do a bit of acting in my spare time. I play a main character in a webseries called "Ghost Sniffers, Inc.". The show is about kids and teens whose disabilities grant them amazing superpowers. Last Saturday, we filmed a Public Service Announcement (PSA). A day on which everyone is encouraged to wear yellow to raise awareness for O.I. Also, I wore a snowflake necklace in this PSA. Kids born ...I was bor...

Beads for Bones: October 2011
http://beadsforbones.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 1, 2011. My Little Bug will be turning 3 years old in just under a month. It is when I am facing an occasion that I retrieve and relive those thoughts from 3 years ago, and I just wanted to share the beginnings of our OI journey with you as we prepare to celebrate a special day. It is intended to be a reflection of how far we have come. This is one of the few pictures of me pregnant, taken days before we went to the hospital). As expecting parents, where do you go from there? I have lov...

Beads for Bones: Why Beads?
http://beadsforbones.blogspot.com/2011/07/why-beads.html
Monday, July 11, 2011. I don't exactly know what it is about them. I just love them. I love the teeniest tiniest seed bead. I love faceted gemstones. I love shiny pearls. I love them all, really. I've never met a bead that wasn't worth a second look. When Little Bug came into my life, the thought occurred to me that I could- -somehow! Not all my jewelry is OI-inspired. As I said before, I really just love beads, and I make all kinds of jewelry. So, why beads? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I have lo...

Beads for Bones: Public Service Announcement: Staring and/or Pointing Aren't Nice
http://beadsforbones.blogspot.com/2011/08/public-service-announcement-staring.html
Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Public Service Announcement: Staring and/or Pointing Aren't Nice. I was never the center of any stranger's attention until I had Little Bug. For almost 3 years now, everywhere we go, at least one person (if not five or ten) tells me how adorable my baby is. "He has the biggest blue eyes! I think it is better to be in the habit of having that walker for extra support. I certainly cannot add anything to her words there. August 23, 2011 at 7:12 PM. Look at him go! All the best,.

Viva vita beata: Cj in AZ. Celeste Joan A. Labayen [pictured below]: Philippine-American [by blood], New Yorker [by birth], New Jerseyan [by heart], Osteogenesis Imperfecta type I [haver], omnisexual [being]. Just 1 blog of how I crazily navigate this world, a few feet shorter [proudly 4'2.5] and several paces slower […my way.]. The more you(/i) know. 1 Osteogenesis imperfecta is a condition in which bones easily break due to an abnormality in the collagen required for bone strength. 6 Type III includes ...

Beads for Bones: Sigh! Another fracture...
http://beadsforbones.blogspot.com/2011/06/sigh-another-fracture.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. All the best intentions can become very unimportant within just a few moments. We love our orthopedic surgeon! One and a half weeks later: life is finally feeling more normal. Little Bug's time convalescing is always a challenge. Despite only having the use of one arm and not really being able to get where he wants to go as fast as he wants to go, his attitude really is amazing. He's such a star. Or is that level of independence just too risky right now? June 29, 2011 at 7:24 PM.
