Just another WordPress.com site. Performative utterance — a users guide. A Sense Of Shadow — Kate Wilhelm. Notes From Elsewhere →. March 8, 2014. Mary Diana Dods was a footnote in the story of Mary Shelley until Betty T Bennett started investigating. The story she unveiled is a remarkable one. This book Mary Diana Dods, A Gentleman and a Scholar. Meanwhile Mary Shelley had made friends with a young woman, Isabella Robinson. History records that Robinson married Walter Sholto Douglas and lived in Pari...

Just another WordPress.com site. Performative utterance — a users guide. Bathymetry album review →. Jessica Hopper — The First Book Of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic. June 14, 2015. The thing about critical assessment of criticism is the near inevitable meta nature of it, the way our response is both a response to the critic. The pieces collected in the admittedly hyperbolic, misnamed but justified banner raising The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic. Hopper revisits ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Performative utterance — a users guide. BREED – K T Davies (Fox Spirit) →. July 5, 2014. I’ve not posted much here recently, most of my blogging has been specific to my column at SF Gateway. A couple of people (Hi Leigh! Asked about links there though, so I thought a post tying things up might be useful. The column, for those who have not yet seen it, focusses on SFF by wiomen, particularly those who have been neglected by history and critics. Called From The Attic. This ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Performative utterance — a users guide. Sarah Hall Interviewed 2009 →. A Matter Of Oaths. July 17, 2011. Had Helen Wright’s only published novel A Matter Of Oaths. Appeared a couple of years after its 1988 publication it might have been seen as a significant contributor to the early 90s British SF and in particular Space Opera resurgence. Instead it seems to have disappeared almost unnoticed. The strengths of Wright’s novel paradoxically are partly in its very famil...

Murf - more than meets the eye!: The thrill of the thriller
http://murf61.blogspot.com/2010/08/thrill-of-thriller.html
Murf - more than meets the eye! Tuesday, 17 August 2010. The thrill of the thriller. Has written over 40 bestselling novels, most reflecting his love of marine archaeology. They have been described as techno-thrillers as advanced technology tends to be a recurring theme in his adventures. My favourite book (and the first one I read) is Inca Gold. Is another enjoyable novel, both featuring Dirk Pitt of NUMA [National Underwater and Marine Agency]. Also writes fantasy as James Clemens. NEWRY, N. Ireland.

Murf - more than meets the eye! Wednesday, 8 December 2010. Taking up the Speculative Reading Challenge 2011. She reads speculative fiction. July 25, 2013. Book reviews and musings. Review: Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky. I really wanted to like this book. Everything about it promised so much! The setting is the Moscow metro system in the year 2033. Above ground, it appears that humanity has been wiped out by nuclear war. The survivors live entirely in the underground tunnel system; stations have evolved into microcosms of the old social and political systems of Russia. Glukhovsky’s primary concern is wit...
