Track notes on bushwalks, mostly in Tasmania. Beyond the Collins Cap track an old regenerating fire trail is used before picking up a marked route down to Glen Dhu Rivulet. Track notes on bushwalks, mostly in Tasmania. Various routes can be taken to Davis Lookout. The most direct crosses in a rough line from windy Moor to Davis. A longer an interesting route initially follows the track to Mt Field East and then descends on the northern side of Mt Field East and crosses the snowgum woodlands and heathlands. This is a delightful walking area close to Lake St Clair and can be completed as a day walk, but to get the most from it, three days are ideal. The country is in the doleri. Te belt with part also on exposed sand. There is a bit of variety in the mountains. Diately below where these rivers meet and this over this is the Overland track to Cradle Mt, whilst to the left i.

Commences at start of Cape Pillar track and follows this for an hour before turning west across several plains on northern side of Crescent Mountain with final short ascent to the peak to overlook Maingon Bay. Many years ago I went over Mount Mawson and down to Hidden Tarn. On that walk we continued down to Lake Belcher, but after looking at the map and satellite images I thought it might be interesting to walk to the tarn then along the shelf as far as it is practical to go. The shelf is reasonably level and generally about 100m wide and 700m long. Hidden Tarn view west.

What good fortune we had with a superb sunny and calm late winter day. Peak on the high plateau. The elapsed time to walk the 6.5k was 3 ½ hours and the return a bit less at just under 3 ¼ hours.
