Friday, March 7, 2008. More photo-restores. This time, I worked with a photo of my dad, my grandpa, my uncle Will, and my aunt Ellen. Notice, though, I had to sculpt my uncle Will's face out of my my dads, using the clone brush primarily. Quite the challenge! The original one on the left had several cracks and creases and some spotting. I used the cloning tool to get rid of those. The edges had also turned an orangy brown so i cleaned those up. Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Men talk of killing time. This was the first exercise of the year. We had to experiment with combining images and including text. I actually really enjoyed this assignment and I like the way it turned out. I am impressed with the textures that I could achieve with a computer. My theme for the video Is red since renaissance. I originally wanted to do a seasonal thing using landscapes from different paintings and scan in some leaves and flowers and what not, but as i started collecting images, i thought to my self " i don't even like landscape painting" so what was i doing? So here's a photo i restored, and a version with a bit more style :). This is the image I choose when told I had to find a self-portrait to mimic, - not exactly typical, but I like it. Degas is probably my favourite artist of all time; I love his colours and the way he captures things you wouldn't normally be drawn to. So this assignment involved creating a movie, set to music, that merged 10 or more images (which could be altered using Photoshop) and scanned items. I was really stuck on this one,. no inspiration. Finally I came up with the idea of clocks , then a song came to me,. and well, here's the result. I wish I had had more time for this, but you can only do so much. I scanned my alarm clock, while it was plugged in, adjusted some of the photos to increase the momentum of the images. View my complete profile.
