What does it mean to be a parent? I often wonder that, especially when comparing biological parents to adoptive or foster parents. If one wishes to refer to themselves as a child’s parent what duties must that entail? Or should I rephrase that to ask what SHOULD happen when things do not go as expected for an adoptive or foster parent?
