My Maclain: Kernicterus is a 4 letter word
http://mymaclain.blogspot.com/2010/02/kernicterus-is-4-letter-word.html
Various ramblings about our life with a child with Cerebral Palsy and Auditory Neuropathy. Is it a fun life? Not all the time, but it is a life full of love, and hope and alot of wine and Starbucks. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Kernicterus is a 4 letter word. It saddens me when I hear about kids who have been affected by this condition, because it should never happen. Here is a link to a site for Parents of children with Kernicterus. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Mighty Mac is 3. Me and My Maclain.

The Aidan Chronicles: September 2009
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Week of September 14, 2009. 8221; “What happened to him”? And now since Aidan’s classmates already knew, they were answering the questions for Aidan and Ms. T. Well done class… helping out your new classmate! As they went through the booklet, the girls were shouting out, “I like Dora too! 8221; And others were saying, “I’ve been horseback riding,” “Wow! I wanna do the zip line! He can do a lot of cool things! How could that be? The school is only 10 minutes from my house?

The Aidan Chronicles: April 2010
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 5, 2010. A Joyous 7th Birthday. Out of the 20 classmates and 2-3 kids from the kinder class next door that were invited, about 80% of the kids showed up! It was an amazing turnout! I've witnessed my own Connor find pure adrenaline-filled joy jumping and sliding and climbing repeatedly over and over and over. If allowed, I think these kids could just spend hours on-end in and out of the jumper. I also put out some foam crowns and tiaras for the kids to decorate. It was quite funn...After the...

The Aidan Chronicles: The Cruise stops in Turkey and Greece, "Special" Vacation, 4
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-cruise-stops-in-turkey-and-greece.html
Wednesday, August 8, 2012. The Cruise stops in Turkey and Greece, "Special" Vacation, 4. May 15, 2012. Today we docked at Kusadasi, Turkey. Connor woke up not feeling well. He had a bit of vomiting and stomach pains. We all still went out to the ancient city of Ephesus by a private van and tour guide which Kevin arranged. The ancient city of Ephesus, is mind-blowing. It is an entire city of ancient ruins thousands years old, so well-preserved. Prayer Wall at the Virgin Mary's House. We did considerate it...

The Aidan Chronicles: May 2011
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 26, 2011. No longer do I feel like an outsider in my own community. This feeling of belonging was never so evident than with Aidan's recent hospitalizations (yes, that is plural; he had two major hospitalizations in two and a half months). It was a very tough time for our entire family and came completely out of the blue. While I could go on and on about spending 3 sleepless nights waiting for a hospital bed in the overflowing ER at UCLA, and about. After a 3 month absence, Aidan returned t...

The Aidan Chronicles: February 2010
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 26, 2010. The cuts in education that I've heard happening around the state and in other parts of the country are just ludicrous. Upper grades have upwards of 40 kids per class. They are cutting school days to save money. Aidan's principal mentioned the possibility of school ending 5 days early. He was also talking about Kindergarten classes having 28 kids with no assistant! 28 5-year olds with 1 adult? In another state, I heard they were considering eliminating the 12th grade? Check it o...

The Aidan Chronicles: October 2010
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 25, 2010. 1st Grade. So far, so great! Aidan is a seven year old whose birthday is March 24. His muscles don't work well so he has a cool wheelchair that he uses at school. He lives in the Highlands with his family and no pets. His house has an elevator. He loves to watch his favorite team, the Lakers with his Dad. We think Aidan is nice. We like when he smiles and think he is awesome.". Mrs L would correct them to ask Aidan, "Do you. Have a brother or sister? 8/10 and 10/10). She. It's in...

http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 16, 2010. Offered to sign a liability waiver. but they wouldn't budge. Contrary to that, in Grand Cayman at the Dolphin Discovery, they allowed Aidan to get in the water with all of us and he was able. To pet and get kissed by a dolphin.and a stingray! Yet, another activity that I don't think Aidan would have been allowed to do in the U.S. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Certain names have been changed to protect individuals' privacy. The Aidan Chronicles: October 2009
http://aidanchronicles.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Andapparently the Dynavox (the kids call it, Aidan's Talking Computer) has been a big hit in the classroom! The kids love it! And everyone seems to gather around him whenever he has it. Ms. T is getting comfortable with it and Miss L, the Inclusion Facilitator, is starting to work with it and adapt class lessons and input programs into it. It'll be a learning process as to how to incorporate it as his communication device as an included member of the class. After I gave the Tra...
