Peregrina Papers: Happy Spring
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2015/03/happy-spring.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Friday, March 20, 2015. Every spring is the only spring — a perpetual astonishment. Since this is my first spring in the new rental, it is such a joy to see what plants and flowers are coming up in the beds. I have a little hydrangea bush, peonies, a whole boatload of lilies which will need to be culled this fall, and an assortment of other small plants for which I need to find names and care instructions. Peregrina Papers: March 2015
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Saturday, March 21, 2015. Quote of the day. Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime; therefore we must be saved by hope. Nothing which is true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore we must be saved by faith. Nothing we do however virtuous can be accomplished alone; therefore we must be saved by love. Friday, March 20, 2015. Age 77: 2:40:19.2. Age 80: 2:44:27.8. Since this is ...
Peregrina Papers: July 2014
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Saturday, July 5, 2014. This man is an ordinary person, who in his 20s, used his two week vacation to do something extraordinary. Not to relax, not to recharge, not to serve himself, but to serve others. It's worth the 15 minutes to watch his tale. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Casa Grande, AZ, United States. Peregrina Papers: I Had a Dream
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2015/03/i-had-dream.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Sunday, March 15, 2015. I Had a Dream. Last night I had a dream with one scene so vivid that I took the time to write it down today. It would make a great jumping off point for a novel. I have friends that are published authors and for years have thought that I would love to write a book. This prologue that I wrote this morning might just be my kick in the hiney. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Casa Grande, AZ, United States. Quote of the day.
Peregrina Papers: 13.1

Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Friday, March 20, 2015. My fitness goal for Summer 2015 is to run a half marathon in September. Specifically, the Skagit Flats half marathon. Notice the word "Flats". And it's just like it sounds.all flat. Flat is good. I took a gander at the stats from last year, and check out these times from the over 70 women's group. Age 77: 2:40:19.2. Age 80: 2:44:27.8. Oh, it's on, 80-year-old.I am taking you down. Peregrina Papers: October 2013
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Sunday, October 13, 2013. I am so glad that Joe gets to clean all the fish. I did offer to learn, but we have come up with a good processing system that involves him fileting and me vacuum sealing and cleaning up. So I have dodged that bullet. Here he is just starting on my bigger coho (silver) from today. It was the largest one of the four in the boat (as I have mentioned to Joe about 642 times) and had over 4.5 pounds just in filets. Also this...
Peregrina Papers: Egg Rolls with Liz
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2015/07/egg-rolls-with-liz.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Friday, July 3, 2015. Egg Rolls with Liz. My friend Liz makes the most amazing egg rolls and brings them in to us at work. Today she came over and showed Jeannette and I how to make them. Now my belly is full and my freezer has egg rolls ready to be fried for dinners. Yum. Liz cooks like I do. Trying to get her to give me an approximate measurement is like pulling teeth. However, I did get some generalizations. 3 lbs ground turkey. Deep fry the ...
Peregrina Papers: September 2013
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Monday, September 23, 2013. When God created the salmon, I'm almost certain he had this one in mind. Tonight we ate the little Silver (Coho) that I caught this weekend. We ate the WHOLE THING. Because, with a little butter, Johnny's seasoning, honey, and the grill, it was amazing. And I made acorn squash for the first time. I think it must be the easiest side dish ever. Not the best picture, but I couldn't resist showing it off. 1 1/2 cups sugar.
Peregrina Papers: My Valentines 2015
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2015/02/my-valentines-2015.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Friday, February 20, 2015. Joe was so proud of himself that he picked out the roses and the baby's breath (and vase! And arranged them on his own. They really are beautiful. I had a few of these sparkly hearts hanging randomly around the house and the little paper hearts tucked into unexpected places. Peregrina Papers: Quote of the Day
http://peregrinapapers.blogspot.com/2014/10/quote-of-day.html
Good words are worth much, and cost little. George Herbert. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Quote of the Day. I love following little rabbit trails of information. I find such interesting little tidbits about history that way. One such trail led me to this quote today:. I want everyone to be smart. As smart as they can be. Pictish Fish | Karen Rann Artist in Residence at Gairloch Heritage Museum
Karen Rann Artist in Residence at Gairloch Heritage Museum. The Great Lines Project/Blog. February 26, 2016. Since 2014 I have been chasing the history of a line. Contour lines on maps were first invented 400 years ago, or perhaps only 250; depending on whether isobaths (the submarine version) count. If you stay above ground then Newcastle born Charles Hutton is the man. Bear with me, if you like maps, walking, art or detective stories you might like: The Great Lines Project. September 2, 2014. 3dei: Hilton of Cadboll Stone: Glenmorangie
Hilton of Cadboll Stone. The magnificent Pictish cross-slab from Hilton of Cadboll in Easter Ross, carved between 700 and 800 AD, stood on land now owned by the Glenmorangie company. It is on display as the centre-piece to the Early People gallery at the National Museum of Scotland. At some point the slab broke away from its base, and its Pictish cross-face was chipped off. Then before AD 1676 this face was re-carved as an (unused! Headstone for Alexander Duff and his 3 wives. A job larger than one person.
