Close ups and still life. My father was a mechanical engineer and it’s from him that I inherited the analytical approach and fascination with detail that have stood me in good stead in my business life, as well as manifesting in some of my artwork. I’m increasingly taking a ‘close up and personal’ approach to subjects, which are often everyday objects, as well as painting 'still life' arrangements. Close ups and still life.

My name is Sue Hinton and I’ve been interested in art for as long as. I have never had any formal training unless you count a good grade at O level. Although I considered studying art at A level too, my practical side took over. I’m proud to have sold some of my work and that some of my customers have come back for more. I love a challenge and undertake commissions on a wide variety of subjects too prices are strictly according to requirement and agreed at the outset. Prices start from under 100.

Murals and trompe l’oeil. Invented by the Greeks, developed by the Romans and taking its name from the French language, trompe l’oeil (literally ‘trick of the eye’) is all about deceiving on a large scale. The ‘trick’ is to use perspective, realistic colour, light and shade to create an image that looks real and appears to be three dimensional. Elephants in the dining room. Seaside in a bathroom. I use the term ‘landscape’ more loosely than some artists. While for some it covers only natural scenery mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, forests and so on, for me it’s the world outside my own front door. Early morning in the City. Red hut at Rye. All the work that appears on this website was produced in Golden Heavy Body acrylic paints, which are particularly good for mural painting and incredibly versatile. While I've tried others, I always come back to Golden for their texture and colour quality.
