navigating the grey: February 2006
http://navigatingthegrey.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Friday, February 10, 2006. Is Jesus' Salvation Just a Ticket to Heaven? It seems that the most logical question after "Why am I a Christian? Would be "Would anyone else want to be a Christian because I'm one? Anyway, again McLaren has helped me to reflect on another topic. The topic of salvation. He writes a chapter entitled "Jesus: Savior of What? In his book Generous Orthodoxy. How are we to liv...

A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Tuesday, March 07, 2006. Again I am pushed to think by McLaren in Generous Orthodoxy. In his chapter on Anabaptists/Anglicans he talks about the need not only to fight against being nominal ("existing or being something in name or form but usually not in reality" - dictionary.com. This line of thinking inevitably forces me to evaluate myself. Am I nominal? Links to this post. John's blog - John.

A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Thursday, August 17, 2006. Why can't I own Canadians? 1 Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. Are there degrees of abomination? 7 Leviticus 21:20...

navigating the grey: Why am I a Christian?
http://navigatingthegrey.blogspot.com/2006/01/why-am-i-christian.html
A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Friday, January 27, 2006. I went to a "Youth Pastor's" lunch the other day even though I wouldn't consider myself a youth pastor. Somehow I received an email about the happening and in it were the words "free meal." How could I resist? Anyhow I thought it would be a good time of discussion, and it was. He asks it of himself; but I was taken back by its implications for me. Why am I. I've read so m...

A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Saturday, July 01, 2006. Response: Jesus vs. Church. This post is in response to a friend of mine who posted on the same topic a couple of days ago. Original: You Like Jesus, but not the Church? I once heard that Gandhi said "I like your Christ, but not your Christians.". How do Christians respond to this quote? Please note the sarcasm). But how should we respond? How do we deal with this issue...

navigating the grey: Alcohol-ism
http://navigatingthegrey.blogspot.com/2005/12/alcohol-ism.html
A community orientated approach to discussing the grey areas of life and learning to navigate them together. Friday, December 09, 2005. Alcohol is one of those very touchy issues in the faith of Christ followers. We seem to be unable to navigate this grey area. And as we consult the Bible looking for black and white answers they allude us. Here are some examples:. Alcohol in the negative - -. Noah's drunkenness and Canan's Curse. Lot and his Daughters. The Vow of the Nazirite. Don's get Drunk on Wine.

The Illogicality of Credence: We're Back
http://credenceisscary.blogspot.com/2007/07/were-back.html
Sunday, July 29, 2007. Julie and I had a fantastic time out West. We had a nice time with the folks in Edmonton for the Wedding, and then headed into the mountains, did some backcountry camping with our packs and toured around B.C. visiting nice areas and even some family in Kelowna! The highlight was definitely our 4-day, 3-night backpacking trip to base of Mount Robson on the Berg Lake Trail. The scenery and julie ;). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Illogicality of Credence: June 2007

Friday, June 29, 2007. This is a very interesting video about 'groupthink.' This is typical of more doctrinally hardline groups like the Pentecostals, (from my experience). It sure made me think about it. What do you think? Sunday, June 17, 2007. Lame introduction and all! It will take a couple of minutes to load though. Let me know what you think! Posted by Noel and Clare. Posted by Noel and Clare. A week ago we were posting about torrential rain. Now we are rewarded with blue skies and stunning sunsets. No complaints about the weather. We can see why so many European tourists who look very pale come to Langkowi as a winter sun holiday. We have seen the weather forecast for the next week in Dorset. It is about 25c less than Langkowi. We will be unpacking our cold weather gear before we arrive at Heathrow. Posted by Noel and Clare. In comparison th...

Filed under: Christian Doctrine. Some Christians (especially those on the left) say they want to re-politicize Jesus. There is something deeply incoherent about this, for it is usually coupled with a commitment to non-violence. I think these folks are blind to the inherent violence of politics. This is ‘the sword’! FYI – I.

Monday, September 20, 2010. Bringing the Light of Christ to a Secular World. St Francis of Assisi dared to bring the light of Christ to the forefront of the medieval Italian countryside by building a creche in Grecchio. In doing so, the tradition of the creche was established and became a popular custom. Why think about this now. in the month of September? Do you add to the fears and anxieties that you encounter or do you help dispel them? Consider what you need to do right now to conform your heart to C...
