On our hilltop homestead in Tennessee, we raise chickens and herbs. We also have a garden that provides vegetables and fruits for our family. We started to search for a homestead while juggling my seasonal park ranger job and my husband's military traveling. After months of searching, we finally found the perfect piece of property located in the same small town I grew up in. About half the property is cleared, and the other half is wooded. March 17, 2015. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Wings full taking care of her chicks. They are all a Buff Oprington/Ameraucana mix (the eggs were her choosing), and I think they are so pretty. They will most likely lay green eggs when they mature. I think this picture sums up motherhood pretty well. Fat, happy, squeaking bunnies. And it was pretty hilarious to watch. January 3, 2015. Plant a larger variety of vegetables, utilizing the space more efficiently. Experiment with raised rows and straw/leaf mulch. Remove the rest of the invasive Mimosa trees from our yard. Perhaps a green house? For the farm animals:. Buy one more Champagne d'Argent doe. Raise, sell and/or process my first litter of Champagne d'Argent rabbits. Breed them with the Easter Eggers to get Olive Eggers (and olive eggs! Build a firewood shed. Finish repainting the barn. Build a new well house.
