Saturday, June 7, 2008. I did not take this picture, by the way. We're at war with the Russians," he said gloomily as I slid into the open seat in front of him. My stomach lurched in response to a pang of terror. It has finally come to this," I thought. Well, it looks like we're going to war for sure. Being in the reserves, I may not make it to the end of the school year before I'm called up." [He was right.]. It sure looks like Bush is heading us off to war, but how can you be so sure? Because my buddy ...

On the other hand, the conditions we most frequently encounter occur during the rest of the day when the light is most direct and the weather is bright and sunny. Generally, such conditions don't make for very interesting photographs. Relative to lighting, what we want most happens least, and what we want least happens most. That's just the way it is. Saturday, March 28, 2009. The shortened 'Chester' became his moniker. The Krause Men give special thanks to Yvonne who patiently worked with Chester to help him finally grasp the concept of being house broken. It took some three months. And in his final days, it was Yvonne who gently tended to his increasingly evident medical needs and gave him tender hospice care over the past two weeks. Chester is survived by Gracie, the family's grand-cat, and Katie the Black Lab. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Speaking ...

Thursday, October 16, 2008. Old Fart Strikes Again: Film At Eleven. I'm a sucker for NPR's music reviews, especially the ones on Week End Edition, Saturday (WEESAT for you NPR aficionados). Let's see now. How many albums have I purchased because I listened to one of those review/interview segments? Well, there was Mystery Box. By Mickey Hart; Now The Day Is Over. From the Innocence Mission; I actually purchased Colbie Caillat's Coco. There was Joss Stone promoting her Mind, Body, and Soul. Listen to Kat...

Chasing Light: May 2008
http://tomkrause.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2008. Here are some things I like, which are often hard to explain in our PC culture (political and religious). Twangy country music- Dwight Yoakam is a particular favorite. The taste of beer. Real Time with Bill Maher. The prophet, Martin Luther King, Jr. Saturday, May 24, 2008. No, I have thirteen of them. Or is it fourteen? I've lost track. I'd have to get up and go count them to verify the number, and right now I'm too lazy to do that. So, what does this have to do with dog food?

Sunday, November 1, 2009. 100 Photos Project- image #1. In 1970, when I was a senior in high school, I loved music and bought a used 1969 Martin D-18 guitar for a whopping $375. It was a very good guitar. In fact, I was a little embarrassed owning a guitar like that because it implied I could play as well as the Martin name indicated. Only a good guitar player would have a Martin, right? To see another site where you'll find my work for this 100 Photos Project all in one place. Linda Ronstadt- Canciones ...

Monday, July 28, 2008. The Euro is alive and doing well in America. Let me explain. . Naturally, Moab has a bit of a tourist-trap feel to it, but it isn't too bad . . .yet. We arrived in town on Thursday in the early afternoon. After getting a room at a motel, we headed downtown to roam the stores and get a bite to eat. The first thing I noticed was how many people were speaking foreign languages and how few were Americans. . Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Take A Look At My Photographs. Johnny Cash- At Fols...

Chasing Light: December 2007
http://tomkrause.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 1, 2007. One Friday I walked into the lunchroom only to see a group of long-time staff members cajoling Tal. He had planted himself confidently under one of the lunch tables. He wasn’t going anywhere. Tensions were rising because it was less than a half hour until it was time for him to get on the bus to go home. Those poor women were trying every threat they could think of to get him to move. One of the ladies turned to me. 8220;Tom, can you see if you can get him out from under there?

Chasing Light: January 2009
http://tomkrause.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 23, 2009. More details as they come available. Monday, January 19, 2009. I have a student this year who is quite a trip. He has autism, which isn't all that unusual at the school where I teach students with severe disabilities. Yes, he has autism, but he has something else. Most days he talks and talks and talks, and none of it really makes any sense. His sentences are usually grammatically correct, but . . . wow! It's not up there if you can't get it down. There's no graveyards here.
