The Porsche 924 is based on a front-engine/rear-gearbox architecture; On the photo below you can see the position of the engine, which is quite inclinated on the left side. This is why the 924 capot can be so low, despite the front-engine position. The gearbox is linked to the motor via a “torque tube” guiding the power to the transmission. Leave a Comment ». It is a 2.5 liter four-cylinder in line, with 8 valves. It develops 150 DIN hp at 5800 rpm. As the unitary capacity of the cylinders is quite big, Porsche has added 2 balance shafts to limit vibrations. You should have 2 identical halves, I didn't make a jig to cut the 2 pieces with, and you can see they are not exactly the same. The benefit of using a jig, is that the 2 pieces you cut, even though not cut exactly as in the drawing, should be the SAME as each other, which is what matters.
