Wes Button | Miley Cyrus is only Guilty of Bad Branding
http://wesbutton.com/miley-cyrus-is-only-guilty-of-bad-branding
Miley Cyrus is only Guilty of Bad Branding. I don’t watch MTV’s Video Music Awards. To me they are a relic of a long dead era. I really wonder why MTV even bothers since their model doesn’t include music video broadcasts anymore. This year the internet exploded about Miley Cyrus’ performance, so naturally I had to look to see what the fuss was about, and while I was at it, I looked at some of the other performances as well. The verdict? Party in the U.S.A. Era Miley was a Gen-Y pop star that visually too...

Wes Button | Who is Diane Lynn Moberg?

Who is Diane Lynn Moberg? On Sunday, October 30th, 2011 at approx. 9:00pm I returned to my vehicle which was parked on NW 23rd Ave. between Hoyt and Irving to discover my rear driver-side bumper and rear hatch of my 2011 Nissan Juke had been scraped (gouged through the paint causing actual body damage). I scrapped [your] bumper when I was parking, so sorry! On Friday, November 4th, I attempted to call Diane, two rings and straight to voicemail. I left a friendly message with my contact info. I took to th...

Monthly Archive for: "March, 2014". Bluetooth Low Energy Fingerprint Could Make My Wallet Obsolete. March 20, 2014. Amongst my geek friends I’ve always been an outspoken opponent of NFC as a useful feature. At best, it’s a gimmicky band-aid for where our mobile devices are headed as they play a larger role in our lives. But it was too little and too early. The real application of this interaction with mobile that […].

Wes Button | The CRC is Dead. Long live the CRC.
http://wesbutton.com/the-crc-is-dead-long-live-the-crc
The CRC is Dead. Long live the CRC. Earlier this month, thanks to the Washington’s legislature, the Columbia River Crossing project died. Rightfully so, as it’s projected $10 billion dollar cost could have built twenty four inflation-adjusted Glenn Jackson bridges. Yes. Twenty four. But now that the CRC is dead, I think it would be a good time to rethink how important the visual design of the bridge is to our city. 10 billion doesn’t even get me the technology package?

Category Archive for: "Gaming". What Gamers Don’t Understand about DLC and the Freemium Model. August 15, 2013. Gamers don’t get business, or more specifically, they don’t understand the crossroads of art and business. I know that’s an unfair generalization and obviously there are gamers out there that understand these things, but some of the more vocal communities of gamers on the internet rail against all forms of launch-day DLC, freemium games, and […].

Wes Button | Fatherhood and the Different Me
http://wesbutton.com/fatherhood-and-the-different-me
Fatherhood and the Different Me. For a few months I’ve left this post blank, as a draft, waiting to be written and posted. The truth is I don’t really have anything insightful to say about becoming a father. Which, if you didn’t know already, happens in early July. But I’m ready. My name is Wes and I've been designing for web, print, and identity for 15 years. I am passionate design and communicating ideas visually.
