Coat of Many Colours. They are not sure. But they say in all likelihood. You will not make it. Is not close enough. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Gifts | northern lights
https://norlight.wordpress.com/poems/coat-of-many-colours/gifts
Coat of Many Colours. My grandmothers gave you presents. Yellow hand-knitted booties,. The very same pattern my father wore once. And so did I. A white cloth to wrap you in. Embroidered with a bumble bee. For days they seemed to herald. Feet that would curl into them. A body damp and warm. And small enough to hold. Now they cup emptiness. I fold them away to save for another. I will not even give you a name. But I give you all the names. The silly names we giggled over late at night. But it will be pretty.
To Spring | northern lights
https://norlight.wordpress.com/poems/to-spring
Coat of Many Colours. You’ve been wooing me for days,. Invisibly, with the most delicate of whispers. With a fragrant smell despite the clouds,. With sunlight on my bathroom floor,. With snowdrops crowding the tombstones. Of the old church. I’m pretending not to notice,. Knowing (rightly) that winter will crush me again,. Hammer me with black weight,. And I am so tired. How can I trust what weighs less than my breathing. And vanishes when I turn around? But look, winter’s worn himself out with gravity.
Reading | northern lights

Coat of Many Colours. Sightlines, by Kathleen Jamie. I am absolutely entranced. The Secret River (re-read for teaching). Potiki, Patricia Grace (re-read for teaching). Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe (re-read for teaching) Interesting how different the experience of reading this is now I have children. The Bees, Carol Ann Duffy. The Inheritance of Loss, Kiran Desai. Found this hard going but utterly haunting. The Signature of All Things, Elizabeth Gilbert – adored this one. The Strays, Emily Bitto.
Twelve Week Ultrasound | northern lights

Coat of Many Colours. In love with your flickering image. You are too fast for us. You bounce and twist and wriggle. But that white grainy ghost child. Your very own darkness. Is translucent, soft and warm. Fierce dream of blood and sinews. You are all body. I hear your heart beat. At exactly the right speed. I see you place your hand against me. I see you kick, I see you float. In the forgiving space. I see you turn away. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).
Angel Baby | northern lights
https://norlight.wordpress.com/poems/coat-of-many-colours/angel-baby
Coat of Many Colours. How I smiled at those women on the forums. Who termed their miscarriages ‘angel babies’. Who imagined them floating on clouds. I scoff no longer. And yet. You are no angel. I do not think of clouds, I think of the steady earth. You are as real as the old yellow hill. With twilight in its crevices. As real as grains and folds of earth. And the pungent leaves. You are more real than the wind that twists the leaves. And you are much more real than, say, stars,. You are right here.
stammerer | northern lights

Coat of Many Colours. I know the cruelty of consonants. The sweep deep swish. Of sss-ss-sssss, the fish gaping. I want to float. You guess my words. With clear tongue,. Precise mouth, cruel. Choking, knocking, flapping. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. Address never made public). Coat of Many Colours. Thursday, August 11, 2016. Things I liked today. Sunday, August 7, 2016. Preparing a lentil shepherd’s pie. Eating it, with a glass of wine. Then I made my pie in response to the slight hint of autumn in the air, and it was good. It was very good. Also Felix today asked me if rocks could be big enough to reach another galaxy. Well, I said, lots of rocks float around. No, I said, they can’t. What if you stacked them up? They’d fall over. But what if they were really flat ones? 8217; ...

Postcards from Rachel - Travel and Lifestyle Blog
Travel and Lifestyle Blog. Our time in cusco, peru. Since our trip to Peru in October, it feels like I’ve been hopping from state to state and haven’t had much time to go through photos and share vacation details. I finally started editing photos last night and have loved reliving everything my husband and I experienced in South America. I definitely consider this adventure one of our favorite trips of all time. Here are a few photos from our time in Cusco. Adopt a Peruvian pup eventually. On one of the ...
