Italia | { dominique falla }

http://www.dominiquefalla.com/portfolio/italia

One of the requests for my Postcards from Rome project. Was the Italian Flag, so I bought back a cheesy little plastic flag from a gift store and embroidered onto it some custom type using gold thread. The plastic flag bunched and puckered terribly, so I still prefer the vector of this one, and I’d love to get it embroidered properly one day. Size: 20cm x 12cm. Materials: Embroidered Plastic Flag. How Can You Tell …. The Sun is Also a Star. First Impressions Letterpress Exhibition. The Sun is also a Star.

Gusto | { dominique falla }

http://www.dominiquefalla.com/portfolio/gusto

One of the requests for my Postcards from Rome project. Was Food Typography , so I designed the word Gusto in custom type, cut it out of vinyl and sprinkled flour over the top. The fun part was arranging all the food around it for the photo shoot and I must confess, I ate most of the bocconcini. That’s my garden in the background. Size: 20cm x 12cm. Materials: Food and flour on timber. It’s not wrong. It’s just different. Speaking at Creative South. Book of the Year. To the Moon and Back.

Bella Tipografia | { dominique falla }

http://www.dominiquefalla.com/portfolio/bella-tipografia

One of the requests for my Postcards from Rome project. Was “Beautiful Typography”, so I spelled out the words in Italian, refined the sketch in Photoshop, and etched the design in to timber and finished it off with red acrylic paint and polished gold wax over the top. Size: 20cm x 12cm. Materials: Laser cut timber, paint and wax. It’s not wrong. It’s just different. Speaking at Creative South. Book of the Year. To the Moon and Back. Creativity is for everyone. April 16, 2012. I’m very excited to launch my latest project, Postcards from Rome. In June this year, I will heading off to Rome in Italy to participate in a Masters of Typography workshop, run by the School of Visual Arts in New York and one of my typography heroes, Lousie Fili is going to be there. Yay! Anyway, I digress, I’ve created a Tactile Typography Books Arts project that you can participate in … yes YOU. So head over to Postcards from Rome. I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Was nice to be featured in the launch issue of Letterspace, a new iPad magazine on type by Saawan Ebe. Posted by The Tactile Typographer on January 21, 2014 in Tactile Typography. I spent some time this Christmas making cards based on cheesy 50s images and I then put slightly rude messages over the top in gold vinyl. Travel and Lifestyle Blog. Our time in cusco, peru. Since our trip to Peru in October, it feels like I’ve been hopping from state to state and haven’t had much time to go through photos and share vacation details. I finally started editing photos last night and have loved reliving everything my husband and I experienced in South America. I definitely consider this adventure one of our favorite trips of all time. Here are a few photos from our time in Cusco. Adopt a Peruvian pup eventually. On one of the ...

Postcards from sanantonio blog. Gayle Brennan Spencer – sending random thoughts to and from San Antonio. August 9, 2015. Struggling and longing to be ‘fictionalized’. So can identify with the whining of the main character in “How Shall I Know You,” a short story in Hilary Mantel. The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher. The woman is an author who has been “struggling with a biography” for several years. Why, I can out-whine her any day. I have a whole cemetery. I seemed to be pining for those three short ...
