Bittersweet Needle and Thread: Braided Rug, Garden
http://bittersweetneedleandthread.blogspot.com/2015/04/braided-rug-garden.html
Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Friday, April 24, 2015. Braided Rug, Garden. This rug I made from several wool skirts and jackets. I loved the red plaid skirt when I saw it and worked the other colors around it. I'm still new at making rugs and don't quite know how much fabric it will take. So this rug measures 3 ft x 2 1/2 ft. What a spring I am having with my garden, or lack of! I think they turned out nicely. I even used the old zippers so that the covers can be removed a...

My “blog” related to quilts and other things that interest me. August 8, 2015. LeMoyne Stars - Star Garden. Mini Tumblers - "Tumbling Into Insanity". Finally a name for the Lemoyne Star pattern quilt. I wrote them all down and then last night I read them off to my husband and asked him to pick a name and he choose. Thank you Rebecca from Quilting Everyday. I am linking to Prairie Sewn Studios. Most every summer I have several ferns hanging on the porch and almost every year I have tree frogs make them a ...

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: February 2015

Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Sunday, February 15, 2015. Polyester Quilt and 1950-1960 Quilt Blocks. This full size polyester quilt was made by my sister-in-law Mel's grandmother, Trula Whitlock, from Arkansas. Mel held on to it for many years and this past fall I took on the task of quilting it. I found a large piece of teal double knit fabric at my favorite thrift store that matched. This quilt is multi-colored, notice the fluorescent orange and yellow in the center!

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: Market Basket
http://bittersweetneedleandthread.blogspot.com/2015/06/market-basket.html
Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. I went to a yard sale many years ago and found this lovely basket. The lady who was selling it told me that the basket was her mother's and that she had gotten it in Arkansas. She also said that it was used when going to the market. I loved it and didn't pay much at all for it. I've used it several time in the garden when picking lettuce/spinach. You can really fill it up! Thanks for visiting,. June 16, 2015 at 12:04 PM.

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: Girls Get Together
http://bittersweetneedleandthread.blogspot.com/2015/05/girls-get-together.html
Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Friday, May 22, 2015. FUN, FUN, FUN. It was time for our annual girls weekend and we had a delightful time! LOTS of talking, laughing and trying to solve some of the worlds problems (not really). It goes by so fast! I named mine Buttercup. We took a trip to St. Joseph, Missouri and below is our adventure. (The battery in my camera went dead so I had to take pictures with my phone so I apologize for the poor quality.). The population eventually...

Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Willow Basket, Quilt and Christmas Decoration. Thank you all very much for the warm welcome and nice comments. What a pleasure this is going to be, to share a common interest with others like me. Confession time: sometimes when life gets chaotic, I will go to my fabric stash and mellow out by sorting fabric, looking at patterns or even make a run to the fabric store. Ahhh, life is good! My grandmother made this man...

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: Twin Quilts and Bathrobe Quilt
http://bittersweetneedleandthread.blogspot.com/2015/07/twin-quilts-and-bathrobe-quilt.html
Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Twin Quilts and Bathrobe Quilt. Our family will soon be blessed with twin girls, born to my husband's nephew and his wife. How exciting! On my project list, I had fabric saved to make a nice girly quilt. So what I did was add some addition fabric and made two. And pink! I used the same rail fence pattern on both quilts. I purchased some fleece in yellow and pink and found a large print pink flower for the back. The ...

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: December 2014

Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Monday, December 29, 2014. Scrappy Wool Rug and Iris Wall Hanging. What an interesting rug this turned out to be. I was working on the braided rug, when I looked down in the trash and saw many small triangles. These were trimmed from the stripes that I sewed together. I had a brilliant idea and pulled them all out of the trash. Well, maybe not brilliant.). It is so pretty hanging on my white wall. Happy New Year to one and all! Hope your holid...

Bittersweet Needle and Thread: August 2015

Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Bittersweet Needle and Thread. Thursday, August 27, 2015. Table Runners and Vintage Block Picture. This is my modified version of a Spicy Spiral Runner using some lovely burgundy and brown fabrics. I had about 5 or more yards of the brown gardening fabric that I really don't like. It came in a box of fabric that was given to me. The colors go well together and has a nice fall feel to it. At my local thrift store was this small bag of vintage fabric and couldn't resist!
