If you want to keep it, you've got to learn how to keep it alive. This program opened new ways to keep communication relative and alive. I think this is a wonderful program. Change is good, once we get past our fears. This class gives us the opportunity to do so while we are not around the other offender population. The greatest strength of this program is the way we got to put things in perspective and differing view points. I look forward to life - I never had one!

There are many concerns when someone comes home after a long absence. For inmates the stakes are higher. A few of these concerns are listed below:. Staying clean and sober. Building positive new relationships. Often the inmate's role was not healthy prior to arrest and incarceration. What is the new role going to be? Fear of failing (this is huge). Trust will have to be re-built and will take time. What are the expectations of each family member and how can those be prioritized?

Why Prepare for Release? All changes cause stress and this is a big change for everyone involved. Everyone includes: the inmate, spouse or significant other, children, their caregivers, other friends and relatives. Even pets are affected. Will make everyone more relaxed. The entire family will have a better idea what to expect. It will take several weeks and maybe even months for the entire family to adjust to having the loved one home.

About Preparing for Rain. JUL 8, 2013. Since moving here over 9 years ago, we haven’t had a chance to fish in one of Michigan’s 11,000 lakes or 36,000 miles of rivers and streams. Today, we finally had that chance. We went to a nearby recreational lake area and within 30 minutes of hooking our poles, we started catching Bluegill fish! Kaybear caught the first fish of the day.
