Procrastinating Donkey

Monday, 9 January 2017. St Bernard or Swimming Pool? We got walloped by a snowstorm on the weekend. We were warned well in advance, so I wrote a post that was scheduled to publish on Monday, in case we lost power. It was a plea to send a St. Bernard dog to dig us out, and to have him bring us some good dark chocolate in a little knapsack, instead of the booze in the little keg around his neck. I even found a picture of an intrepid St. Bernard so you could see that he'd be totally up for the job:. That's ...

Procrastinating Donkey: April 2016

http://procrastinatingdonkey.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html

Friday, 29 April 2016. Tree Buddies and Bird Song (Not What You Might Expect). It wasn't until I started carrying a camera with me on my walks that I began to notice so many details of the area in which I live. Trees, in particular, have entered my radar in a big way. Like this one, which was pruned severely, although it's not clear why. The trunk lies between two power lines, so it doesn't seem to have been trimmed to avoid the lines. Over what, I don't know, but probably not the chain saw. They've gone...

Procrastinating Donkey: October 2016

http://procrastinatingdonkey.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html

Monday, 31 October 2016. Want To Know What Really Scares Me? On Friday I promised to post a spooky photo today, because it's Halloween. How about this, then:. They're like little headlights, aren't they? Not actually scary, just bright. Maybe one of these will do the trick . A local graveyard when I was just learning to use my camera. Harvest moon, a year ago. Oh, you're all just too sensible to be spooked, aren't you? Time to get serious. What could be more scary than this, I ask you? Links to this post.

Procrastinating Donkey: June 2016

http://procrastinatingdonkey.blogspot.com/2016_06_01_archive.html

Monday, 27 June 2016. I am working on a deadline at my real job, so just a photo today. Not just any photo, though. And maybe just one more, from a different angle so it's clear how much cat is in that box:. The shoe box says Size 7 but I think he's at least a size 9. Maybe a 10. Wishing you all a "10" kind of week - overflowing with good stuff. Links to this post. Friday, 24 June 2016. Out and About; and Seriously, We Don't Say Oot and Aboot in Canada, No Matter What You've Been Told. And in my yard:.

Procrastinating Donkey: Who's The Boss?

http://procrastinatingdonkey.blogspot.com/2017/01/whos-boss.html

Friday, 6 January 2017. I was travelling on Thursday (it involved seeing grandchildren, so it was for a good cause) and was so tired when I got home that I had to have a nap. This nap took place in late evening, when I usually write my post for Friday. So it's the middle of the night and I'm composing a post. Who's the boss here, me or my blog? Anyway, thank goodness for cute pictures on the internet. So relevant in light of my recent holiday eating. Yep, this is how I felt before my nap tonight. P S Why,...

Procrastinating Donkey: May 2016

http://procrastinatingdonkey.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 May 2016. Remember this from April? Crows in a wood. Now it looks like this:. No crows. They're all busy raising families. The ground is blue with forget-me-nots. I couldn't get them all in the photo, but imagine three shots just like this, side by side. That would give you an idea of the area that contains these trees and the flowers at their feet. It's a beautiful spot that I pass frequently on my walks. Do you think their ability to explode like this explains their name? Links to this post.

Shadows & Light: Opening Night

http://shadowsteve.blogspot.com/2008/09/opening-night.html

Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light." - Joni Mitchell. Friday, September 19, 2008. When we first sat down, I noticed an older woman in front of us, quite beautiful and dressed in a beaded white jacket. She looked familiar, but I couldn’t figure out who she was. She was eating a huge Hershey bar. Then her companion, introducing her to someone, gave her name: Celeste Holm. So during the show I was partly distracted by the fact that I was two seats away from a Hollywood legend.

Shadows & Light: Museum of Mid-Century Graphics

http://shadowsteve.blogspot.com/2015/08/museum-of-mid-century-graphics.html

Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light." - Joni Mitchell. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Museum of Mid-Century Graphics. My mom's house is a vast repository of mid-century graphic design. Everywhere I turn I'm faced with old, whimsical packages like this 1970 envelope from Eckerd Drugs. Before TG&Y we had Neisner's and Grant's - both long gone. Isn't it funny that the box has long outlasted the shoes? Twenty cents for a box of cloves? It's like a museum around here! Now you have me wor...

Shadows & Light: Shipping the Ancestors Elsewhere

http://shadowsteve.blogspot.com/2015/08/shipping-ancestors-elsewhere.html

Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light." - Joni Mitchell. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Shipping the Ancestors Elsewhere. I have a doozy of a cold, probably thanks to that airplane. I was sneezing all day yesterday and it looks like today will be more of the same. Great. I've been sharing my germs with my brother and his family, who are visiting from Jacksonville this weekend. We've been celebrating my older niece's 9th birthday, which of course involved two. My niece has once again.

Shadows & Light: Flower Plaques

http://shadowsteve.blogspot.com/2015/08/flower-plaques.html

Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light." - Joni Mitchell. Friday, August 7, 2015. When I was five years old, I made these plaques, based on some I saw in my arts and crafts classes at summer camp. As I recall, I came home and hammered together my own versions using stuff I found in the garage and yard. My mom was so impressed with them she took a picture of me:. OMGi love them. Shadows & Light: Water, Water Everywhere

http://shadowsteve.blogspot.com/2015/08/water-water-everywhere.html

Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light." - Joni Mitchell. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Water, Water Everywhere. Once again, we had a crazy amount of rain yesterday - six inches. In the area where my dad lives. This (above) was the scene not too far from his house. A lake in someone's front yard! We've had so much rainfall that the water has nowhere to go. The ground is saturated. Try to pass the street above. See that disabled white car? Someone made a bad decision. I only painted my ...

Sunday, October 15, 2006. I now wear nylon knee-highs. It seems I have neglected blogger over the last month.
