Progress in Earth and Planetary Science. 1月21日のWileyのブログサイトに、「 Wileyが査読に関するオンライン調査の結果を発表 / 査読者に対するインセンティブやトレーニングのあり方に重要な示唆. 12301;という記事1)が掲載されました。PEPSでも査読者にインセンティブを持たせるための方策を議論しているので、参考になりました。 さて、Wileyの記事1)にもありますが、査読のためのトレーニングを今後さらに受けることを希望される方が多いようです。JpGUやAGUでも講習会を行っていますので、機会があればぜひご参加ください2)。また、多くのジャーナルでは、査読者へのガイドライン3). 4)を公表していますので、ぜひ一読ください。このブログでは、私見になりますが、いくつか査読者の心構えをあげておきましょう。 What’s new：. ジャーナルにもよりますが、通常「何が科学的に新しいか」が評価基準になります。枝葉にとらわれずに、既存の研究に比べて何が新しいのかが明瞭かどうかでMajor...分野が明らかに異なる場合を除いて、査読の依頼は基本...

Progress in Earth and Planetary Science. 一年すこし前まで文科省の学術調査官を兼務していました。この職名には得も言われぬ響きがあるようで、肩書入りの名刺を渡し、相手の反応を見て楽しんでいる同僚もいたようです。といっても、仕事の大部分は、文科省が直轄する数少ない科研費種目である新学術領域研究の審査作業の補助、要すれば事務方側のサポートをするというものです。特に研究代表者に返す審査意見書、論文でいえばレビューコメントは、専門性に通じていないと書けません。ヒアリングや審議を傍聴し、委員の書いた（時に難読の）メモを参照して意見書の原案を作るのが、多くの学術分野から集まった調査官の仕事です。時々誤解のある点ですが、調査官自身が申請書の評価に加わることは全くありません。 PEPS 宇宙惑星科学セクション編集長 / 北海道大学大学院 理学院 宇宙理学専攻 倉本 圭. Progress in Earth and Planetary Science. 数年前，現在の所属先に移動するに際して，部屋のマップケースの中身を整理していたところ，デカドライとスクリーントーンが大量に出てきました．博士課程在学時に買い求めたものを約四半世紀も後生大事にしまっていました． さて，PEPSのウリの一つにRapid publicationがあります．そのため，事務局は，個々の原稿の査読から出版までの状況を，常時，ウォッチしており，1週間に1度（月曜日の夕方に），総編集長および6名のサイエンス・セクション編集長にレポートが配信されます．しかし，このような査読の迅速化に対する取り組みも，SpringerOpenの制作部門で原稿が滞ることがあり，善処を求めて来たところです．かなり改善されては来たのですが，問題がなくなった訳ではありません． 文字情報であるフォント・ファイルの搭載状況は，OSや同じOSであっても，バージョン等により異なります．そのため，自分が作成した図のファイルを別環境下で開いた場合，同じフォントが...少し詳しく書きましたが，それぞれの注意事項について，...
