Programme reflections

Wednesday, 23 September 2009. Visit to Portsmouth Grammar School - 14th September. A final issue of particular interest was the gender balance in the classes. Economics suffers from its appeal to boys but not girls and each of the classes had only one or two girls in classes of around 12. A gender problem which public relations has at universities but in reverse. Posted by Mark Phillimore. Wednesday, 27 May 2009. What have I learnt from the process? I am still very much at the stage where the more I lear...

Programme reflections: Online tools for the group

http://www.programmereflections.blogspot.com/2009/05/online-tools-for-group.html

Wednesday, 27 May 2009. Online tools for the group. As aspect of the group which is worth exploring is the use of online tools. As well as our personal blogs we have used two collaborative environments - a collaborative blog called Our Fab Course. And also Google Groups which provides a private noticeboard type space for notes and files. Both of these have played a key role in the development and completion of the project. But why? Having two online resources was a feature which gave the group great flex...

Tuesday, 24 February 2009. The learning organisation and the learning lecturer. He was also particularly strong about group working. "It become quite clear that, for many, their experiences as part of truly great teams stand out as singular periods of life lived to t. Picking up on this line of thinking is learning inherently a group activity not a singular one. Or is it a different sort of learning? Posted by Mark Phillimore. First steps as a group then into the quicksand. Is the vehicle and the ability...

Programme reflections: May 2009

http://www.programmereflections.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 27 May 2009. What have I learnt from the process? I have been responsible for developing new courses - Financial Media and Communications at the European Business School. Being one; but this is the first one where I have had to think deeply about all the elements which go into a course; and in particular the pedagogical theory underpinning the course; or certainly to a much greater extent than before. As I get more experienced will I move to another design approach? Posted by Mark Phillimore.

Our fab course: today's meeting

http://ourfabcourse.blogspot.com/2009/04/todays-meeting.html

Course design and evaluation group blog. Tuesday, 28 April 2009. We discussed the feedback we need to give to other courses. Also the assignment. For summative 2 we have been given 9 questions to consider but warned that we cannot go indepth for all in 1500 words. We discussed that we probably need to adress all of them briefly and then expand on 3-4. Material and timeschedules are uploaded on google docs. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our fab course: a hybrid approach?

http://ourfabcourse.blogspot.com/2009/03/hybrid-approach.html

Course design and evaluation group blog. Thursday, 12 March 2009. Now that we formed wonderful learning outcomes, for our teaching strategies there is a suggestion for a 'hybrid approach' (combining virtual and class based learning - please see Walker and Arnold (2004). That will give us the option to support our student target group (professionals) and link it to the overall management development trend of the 'reflective practitioner' (Schon ). Our fab course: IOC Debriefing transfers knowledge from Beijing to London

http://ourfabcourse.blogspot.com/2009/02/ioc-debriefing-transfers-knowledge-from.html

Course design and evaluation group blog. Wednesday, 18 February 2009. IOC Debriefing transfers knowledge from Beijing to London. I thought looking at the debriefing from Beijing to London might give some insight into areas that need more focus for management of large-scale sporting events or 'mega-events' as I saw them described somewhere. Lots of sites seem to have the same information copied from the IOC debriefing page. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Greenwich: Legacy for 2012.

Our fab course: Legacy for 2012 olympics & paralympics

http://ourfabcourse.blogspot.com/2009/03/legacy-for-2012-olympics-paralympics.html

Course design and evaluation group blog. Sunday, 8 March 2009. Legacy for 2012 olympics and paralympics. It does seem that there are many ways of looking at the olympic legacy. Of the any major event. The University of Greenwich. Itself hosted a 2-day event last May led by the Business School. I wonder if it would be possible to speak to anyone locally involved in the event that might give us more background on previous large-scale sporting events (previous olympics) and what's important this time.
