FOBO is the fourth prototype from Project Biped. It is a self-contained, statically balanced bipedal robot . It has 8 DOF (degrees of freedom) and can walk around its environment and avoid obstacles using an ultrasonic range sensor. All of the designs, instructions, source code, and parts lists are provided for free. FOBO was designed to be easily made. By anyone with a low cost 3D printer and an interest in learning about robotics. Check out the. If you have any questions. 8 DOF ( 55g servos).

The path towards the goal of a creating a dynamically balanced, autonomous, bipedal robot has many steps. Rather than waiting until the final robot is finished to share any content, each prototype is published here. Hopefully this will allow others to follow the progression of the project and learn from our mistakes and successes. The prototypes are presented with the most recent first. Android based walking bipedal robot. Android tablet for the brains, Arduino mega for the brawn. Has a user interface.

After seeing the video of the PETMAN robot. I knew that I had to be part of the next generation of robotics. With my background in Computer Vision I have worked on the software side of several robotics projects, however I have always wanted to learn more about fabrication and electronics. My hope is that by documenting what I learn about robotics along the way I will encourage other people to become excited about this incredible technology.
