So it was Tuesday and I came into the gym with my two workout buddies and we started our workout. Interval stations of an upper body exercise, lower body exercise, and a cardio exercise all for one minute a piece. Not too bad, huh? It hit me.I left my lunch bag sitting on the kitchen counter. Monday, February 24, 2014. Accuracy of the "Calorie Burn" Reading on Equipment. Here's another great blog from trainer, Caitlin Massey. You come into the gym and hop on the elliptical machine and as you are going you look down and notice the machine indicating you have burned 100 calories so far. You think to yourself great! But then you wonder: how accurate are the calorie readings on the cardio equipment? Between 70 and 100. So why aren’t machines accurate? So what will get you the most caloric burn?
