Tuesday, March 25, 2014. BUILDING RWBY SCYTHE PART 3 ANIME BOSTON 2014. So last I left off (in the previous post. 160;that I forgot to name Part 2 in the Building-RWBY-scythe-series-of-posts), I was in the middle of prototyping. That version was unfortunately scrapped (though not entirely) for the con. In hindsight though, the size was a good reference for the next version. But! For now, let me tell you about the RWBY scythe I build for Anime Boston. Next version is already in the works. Off to Lulu Land.

cynaesthetics: February 2013

Thursday, February 28, 2013. I've been commissioned for a few projects lately but I haven't been updating much on any of them, sadly. But when things start rolling out with them, I'll blog more about them here! In the meantime though, here are a few practice sketches I'd made sometime in the past month! Air-based, but mobile in water too- I'm thinking. Possibly used for cargo or construction. Above: More animal-inspired designs! Scout ships, and a floating island of rock and water. This was for a comic).

Tuesday, February 25, 2014. What could you do with a roll of receipt paper and a soldering iron? Receipt paper is usually 'thermal paper', which means one side of it is coated with a chemical (including the dye) that reacts to heat, providing a way to print text and images without ink. Taking a heat gun with the right setting. Finding the right heat setting to make the strokes I wanted took a few tries. And then taking a soldering iron on the right setting. Happy belated Valentines Day! Off to Lulu Land.

Sunday, January 18, 2015. TRIP TO CHINA JAPAN. Wow Where to even start? From December 22, 2014 to January 2, 2015, I spent overseas - one week roughly in China with family, one week roughly in Japan with Charles. Its been 10 years since Ive been back to China, and it was my first time in Japan. I pretty much underwent a mix of culture shock and sensory overload the entire time. (And then on the way back, a sort of reverse culture shock coming back into the states, haha). Only the last day though). The pa...

Sunday, June 2, 2013. CELTY ANIME BOSTON 2013. At Anime Boston this year (2013), I cosplayed as the character Celty Sturluson. The modern take on a Dullahan from the anime Durarara! In truth, this isnt so much an instruction blog for how to make a Celty helmet and scythe, but more of a trial and error log, tips and advice column, and experimentation report from an amateur cosplayer. But I digress-. WARNING: This is a VERY LONG and PHOTO HEAVY POST! Read on after the break! Have plenty of sleep and rest!

cynaesthetics: RWBY SCYTHE PROTOTYPE PART 1
http://cynaesthetics.blogspot.com/2013/11/rwby-scythe-prototype-part-1.html
Tuesday, November 26, 2013. RWBY SCYTHE PROTOTYPE PART 1. A year ago, I saw the trailer for RWBY, fell in love, and vowed to make a working, movable scythe. One year later, after months of not working on this, and going back between idea after idea of how to start and what to do, consulting with friends, getting cold and hot feet and becoming busy with work and life in general, I finally got around to starting! Here's what I've done so far:. Here's a video of the blade sprung extension in action:. Would ...

Thursday, November 29, 2012. RWBY - Red White Black Yellow. Ive been a fan of Monty Oums work since I discovered his Dead Fantasy series a few years ago, and was thrilled to hear of his new work with Roosterteeth - RWBY. After watching the trailer, I have to say. You see that gunscythe? I want to build that gunscythe. After brainstorming and sketching out possible ways to make this thing work in real life, I paused to make a static version of the fully-extended head of the gunscythe from computer paper.
