practice progress – forestine

Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 8, 2016. August 8, 2016. Week 2 of Trying To Do Art Everyday In August (needs a catchier name, huh? But the trick is finding a way that works for me to get better with this stuff. Bullet journal tracking stuff. I have this frame of leaves that I’ve been poking away at for over a year, practicing satin stitch and having really no idea what to put in the middle. Yesterday’s drawing finally solves that problem. I’d been percolating...Enter your comment here.

Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 1, 2016. I’m trying to be a person who finishes things, instead of starting a zillion new projects at once. Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. September 2, 2016. September 2, 2016. Okay, so I’ve been avoiding the world and working on this tweed jacket. Sewing often feels like a mix between art and not-art. I think the process of doing it does help my thought process, plus I often get to use sewing supplies inherited from my grandma or other old ladies in my life. Starting to look jackety. Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 24, 2016. Well, missed an update. I’m always tempted to give up after missing one thing, you know? I’ve had a rough few weeks for whatever reason. Lace is on hold until next payday because I’m going to run out of thread. Planning error. Hopefully I can get the same dye lot. I’ve been embroidering slowly but steadily, and now have outlines done of all the leaves of the border, ready to satin stitch. Why does cutting take me so long? The habit trackers hel...

Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting: May 2015
http://rosyquilter.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. I am making good progress on my quilting projects and feeling very happy that I have some finishes happening. More quilts are on the pile to have the binding completed and that feels great! I loaded a quilt on the B-line (home quilting system) and got it quilted. That always feels good to have something done. I made more of my chevron blocks to test this method and now have a stack waiting to be sewn. Links to this post. Two on th...

Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting: March 2015
http://rosyquilter.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting. Thursday, March 19, 2015. Last week in my AZ house for the winter. Am packing up my sewing/quilting projects ready to take home tops for quilting and tidying what I have here so I will feel organized when we leave for home. I finished a table runner that is perfect for here in Arizona. This is a mug rug that I sent to my partner for the March swap. I made some of the St. Louis 16 patch blocks from fat quarters and got this quilt top put together. Marching...

Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting: February 2015
http://rosyquilter.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting. Monday, February 23, 2015. I managed to finish two tops this week. Both are Villa Rosa patterns, which I am loving. Simple cutting and piecing and easy to follow directions. This one was made using fat quarters plus some grey yardage. I had some 10" squares of batiks but one set wasn't enough to make a decent size quilt so I cut up some of my batiks on hand and added to the stack. This is the result. Links to this post. Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting: Too hot to be a sewing maniac!
http://rosyquilter.blogspot.com/2015/07/too-hot-to-be-sewing-maniac.html
Rosyquilter's Life: Family, Friends and Quilting. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Too hot to be a sewing maniac! Very hot here in the Pacific Northwest. Breaking temperature records and lots of forest fires all around the province. I have been hiding in the basement but even feels too hot to use the iron much so I pieced a lot yesterday and left the pressing until late last night. Today, we had no electricity for most of the day so we escaped and it has been a complete no sewing day at all! Good group to join.
