Eye of the Tiger: January 2006
http://watchtheeyeofthetiger.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Eye of the Tiger. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. Monday, January 23, 2006. Raccoons and spelling H-I-N-E-S. Just finished my first session at my new gym - the UBC ' Birdcoop. Not a bad gym, lots of equipment that is in good nick, lots of benches, lifting platforms, and most people in there seem to stick to the machines. Anywho, I had my first enco. Now I know American spelling is different to ours back in Oz, but c'mon, how hard is it to spell Hines, when. Lift pass has me as Andrew Haines.

Brissie to Brizzle and everywhere in between. Brissie to Brizzle and everywhere in between. January 28, 2012. So ridiculously cool: the Dresden Dolls with Richard O’Brien perform “Time Warp” together. I said that I didn’t want to kick off blogging again with a rant about Elsevier. Abbott’s attitudes are archaic – Brissie to Brizzle and everywhere in between
https://brissietobrizzle.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/abbotts-attitudes-are-archaic
Brissie to Brizzle and everywhere in between. Brissie to Brizzle and everywhere in between. August 3, 2010. Abbott’s attitudes are archaic. OK, I wasn’t going to get drawn into the Oz election campaign. Really, I wasn’t. But…. I’m fairly stunned that in the middle of an election campaign that Tony Abbott would make a cheap “no means no”. Quip about Julia Gillard and the debate negotiations. What kind of creep thinks that this is in any way appropriate phrasing when having a discussion about anyone? Join ...

scrofulous: unglorious problems in quantum information
http://scrofulous.blogspot.com/2006/09/unglorious-problems-in-quantum.html
Sometimes life gives us lessons sent in ridiculous packaging. Unglorious problems in quantum information. Along the lines of Scott's 10 annoying problems in quantum information. Now happily only 8), I have a handful related to universal gate families. Let V be an imprimitive gate in U(d. Meaning that it cannot be written as a product of two gates in U(d). We know that V and V. Together with U(d) x U(d) (i.e. all local gates), can exactly generate all of U(d. But if we don't have access to V. Solovay-Kita...

three-thirteen: Someone to admire
http://threethirteen.blogspot.com/2005/04/someone-to-admire.html
The Philosophical Transactions of Room 313. Thursday, April 07, 2005. On television recently, on a great ABC show called 'Foreign correspondent', I saw an excellent story on a man I had previously never heard of, Romeo Dallaire. To a Canadian, I think this is sacrilegious, as he is considered a national hero, and from what I've now heard and read about him, that title is rightly deserved. He has since somewhat recovered, returning his life, as he said, to some form of normality. He still cannot go to...
