A Quarter Inch from the Edge: May 2015

http://www.quarterinchfromtheedge.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

2016 - The Year of the Stash. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Sunday Stash - But they were free. Since my Fabricaholics Anonymous post. I've been evaluating my fabric purchasing. I know, I know, how many posts have you read about working from your stash, blah, blah, blah. But seriously people. I have enough fabric. I could probably quilt an addition on my house. That said, here's a little fabric eye candy that made it's way into my stash last week. Some lovely Cotton and Steel. Adding to your stash? Well, I won it!

2016 - The Year of the Stash. Friday, March 27, 2015. Friday Finish - For the Love of Sewing! The day has finally arrived. my 2014 Skill Builder quilt, For the Love of Sewing, is officially FINISHED! The capitals and exclamation points are 100% warranted here. at least in my opinion. Not only did I meet my March Goal for ALYOF,. I surpassed it by completing the borders and the binding too. For those of you keeping track, I was #124 on the Goal Setting Party. Quilt roll à la Dominique! Taking an on-line c...

2016 - The Year of the Stash. Sunday, August 09, 2015. Sunday Stash - And the slide down the slippery slope continues. Okay Here it is. My name is Jenn and I'm a Fabricaholi. C It's been less than a day since my last fabric purchase and there are more squishy envelopes scheduled to arrive. I have fallen, dear reader. I have fallen. Hard. It's a long way down the slippery slope from this triumphant post. But I really needed all these lovely Konas! My LQS doesn't stock much laminate, so when I saw these lo...

A Quarter Inch from the Edge: Throwback Thursday {Volume 1}

http://www.quarterinchfromtheedge.blogspot.com/2015/08/throwback-thursday-volume-1.html

2016 - The Year of the Stash. Thursday, August 06, 2015. Throwback Thursday {Volume 1}. Welcome to the inaugural Throwback Thursday! To kick off #TBT here at A Quarter Inch from the Edge, I've chosen a quilt that's near and dear to my heart - A Thousand Triangles. I can practically hear you, dear reader. What is going on with all this brown? Even though the points don't all match, the majority of them still have their points. that's a win for a beginner quilter! It's quilted very simply. horizontal s...

buttons quilts: Possibilities

http://buttonsquilts.blogspot.com/2015/07/possibilities.html

Tuesday, 14 July 2015. I am in my new house and boy, moving is much more difficult when you have two little "helpers." Not much progress has been made in the sewing room but oh, the possibilities! To go from sewing primarily in my dining room which was the first room you saw when you entered my house, and which needed to be disassembled for every family meal/event, to having my own sewing room? I'm in heaven already! The room is painted a really light, neutral grey ( Balboa Mist. I think it will take the...

BuzzinBumble: Matchstick Quilting Experiment

http://www.buzzinbumble.com/2015/05/matchstick-quilting-experiment.html

Quilty Pleasures and Crafty Pursuits. Vintage Sewing and Fun. Crafted Appliqué: New Possibilities and Linky Party. Wednesday, May 20. Since I was considering doing some closely spaced matchstick quilting on Sam's "Serenity Now! I wanted to experiment beforehand with the effect that this has on fabric. Specifically, I wanted to know three things:. 1) how much does very closely spaced quilting obscure the fabric design? 2) at what point does it make the finished piece unacceptably stiff? The quilting space...

Meetings and Sew Ins. Monday, 27 July 2015. MMQG July Sew-In Day Recap. 13 is a lucky number for the MMQG. That's how many happy, motivated, productive quilters showed up to spend the day together finishing up projects or just socializing. What a fun day we had! And the afternoon continued with more of the same. The lighting was not good yesterday, so my phone pics aren't the best. Maybe you should come next time and get a way better look! Emily's very first quilt! Donna tries out piecing on her new Pfaff.

Saturday, 28 March 2015. Ella Blue: A Finished Quilt. I have been very quiet on my blog. Part of it was the business of work and life. Then a tragedy struck a close friend of mine and I have been navigating through my grief. I will blog about it briefly in another post, but for now I wanted to share this finished quilt, Ella Blue. I used Jeni Baker's Giant Star tutorial. The binding is a scrappy mix but mostly Alison Glass in this gorgeous blue. I also made my first ever quilt label. I used this spec...
