HIDDEN TREASURE | Quilting with Hexagons

https://quiltingwithhexagons.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/hidden-treasure

The backing is made with a voile fabric. It is very hard to work with because it is slippery but it is very soft. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. TO TRIM OR NOT TO TRIM | Quilting with Hexagons

https://quiltingwithhexagons.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/to-trim-or-not-to-trim

TO TRIM OR NOT TO TRIM. I started trimming the corners of my hexagon’s fabric, it looks more tidy, especially with light fabrics, and the final product is somewhat lighter. Plus it’s fun. Here is a picture of some pieces with and without corners. First I pin the fabric square to the paper hexagon and then I cut the corners off. May 27, 2014. I did not trim my hexagons at first, but now, a couple of hundred in I trim…it looks so much neater and less bulky. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Here is baby new Viola on her new blanket. Colors chosen by the mother. The binding was sewn on by machine by the baby’s grandmother as it was fitting for her to contribute something, and I think in the future I will insist on hand stitching. This is the end result. I embroidered one side with a chicken scratch pattern making sure that none of the stitches went all the way though, and then I quilted the backing with a simple shell pattern. OIL AND VINEGAR | Quilting with Hexagons

https://quiltingwithhexagons.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/oil-and-vinegar

This is narrow table runner used to place all the condiments, bottles, and bread on. The person it was made for owns to sets of dishes: a blue and yellow one, and a pink and purple one. The fabric on the back came from Japan, very nice to work with, albeit a little slippery. TO TRIM OR NOT TO TRIM. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. CHICKEN SHELLS | Quilting with Hexagons

https://quiltingwithhexagons.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/chicken-shells

I had a stroke of genius, if I may say so myself… I realized that when I quilt one side of a project, the needle doesn’t necessarily have to thorough all the way because as long as the fabric is bound to the batting you’re good. So, I mused, why not do one thing on one side, and something different on the other? There was a learning curve as may hand is used to push the needle through all the way, but eventually I got used to it. TO TRIM OR NOT TO TRIM. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Quilting and Cardmaking

Friday, August 7, 2015. I had to make a tough decision this month - which of three important projects did I want to focus on? I have a scrappy Churn Dash quilt cut and ready to assemble, as well as Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties. I also have a wedding quilt to get working on, but that's a little bit down the road yet, and I don't actually have all of the fabrics for it yet (which will hopefully be remedied this afternoon! The most colourful "blankets" in the pile! Thursday, July 30, 2015.
