A Confluence of Thoughts: March 2010
http://susankanderson.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
A Confluence of Thoughts. On my design wall. I enjoyed piecing the blue paisley Double Four Patch so much. That I decided to make another using some larger pieces of fabric from my stash. Here are the strips that I've already sewn together and cut apart again. They're ready to go into the four-patch blocks. As I finish sewing the individual blocks together, I put them up on my design wall so I can watch the quilt pattern forming. Have I mentioned lately how much I love this design wall? Quick Note: I hav...

A Confluence of Thoughts. We were up in the San Juan Islands recently and were lucky enough to be there during a particularly hot spell in Vancouver. It was in the high 90s in Vancouver; it was 80 in the San Juan's.and absolutely beautiful. Again. Still. As always. And no, I am not a bit biased. I mean, come on.look at that sunset and tell me that is not beautiful. It was just like living in pictures from a travel magazine. And of course, part of the charm is the sailboats reflecting in the water. I cut ...

A Confluence of Thoughts: June 2010

A Confluence of Thoughts. First, let me say that I am not a fan of dandylions. I consider them weeds in the flower garden of my life. Okay, I admit it, I'm not poetically inclined. I don't like wild blackberries either. I hate being pricked by those thorns! When I see either of these plants growing in the yard, I yank them out by their nasty little roots. That said, I decided to shoot some close-up pictures of them while we were down at the river last week. But the blooms on the blackberry vines? She's w...

A Confluence of Thoughts. For my MIL.bird pictures. My mother-in-law is a great photographer and she loves taking pictures of birds. She'll wait for an hour just to get that perfect bird shot. And I like to think I'm a good photographer but I just don't have her patience. If I can't get the shot in 10 minutes (or 15 shots in 10 minutes), well, it's time to move on. Plus, my photography interest really isn't with birds. My interest is with flowers. Then there's this picture of my favorite subjects. And th...

A Confluence of Thoughts: May 2010

A Confluence of Thoughts. Flowers from the garden. I have no idea where the last two weeks have gone. It certainly doesn't seem like I've accomplished much during that time. I did finish a quilt top and have another cut out and partially sewed, and I've taken some Red Cross classes online and at the Southwest Washington offices, and I've done some housework (not enough! And then there's the gardening. Okay, so I guess I know where all the time has gone. But the results sure are pretty. We're Jimmy Buffet...

A Confluence of Thoughts: Starting up again

A Confluence of Thoughts. To say it's been a long time since I posted anything is probably a bit of an understatement. It's better if you squint your eyes when you look at it. Really.). Now I just have to decide on borders. I've gotten input from my sister. Now I just need to find time to get that part done! Posted by Sue Anderson. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And a knitter with too many patterns and not enough time. Oh yeah.and I wish I could sing like Bette Midler. Picture of the Day. New Star C...

A Confluence of Thoughts: April 2010

A Confluence of Thoughts. Time to finish up on the trip back from Arizona. After leaving the Hoover Dam congestion, we were on to Las Vegas. We were barely across the Nevada border when we came to the first casino:. After checking into our hotel, mixing drinks and playing a rousing game of tug with Molly, we headed down to the strip. It's massive. Bette Midler played here for 2 years. We didn't get down to Vegas during that time, though I hear she was tremendous. I love The Mirage. It's one of my favorit...
