A Confluence of Thoughts: March 2010

http://susankanderson.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

A Confluence of Thoughts. On my design wall. I enjoyed piecing the blue paisley Double Four Patch so much. That I decided to make another using some larger pieces of fabric from my stash. Here are the strips that I've already sewn together and cut apart again. They're ready to go into the four-patch blocks. As I finish sewing the individual blocks together, I put them up on my design wall so I can watch the quilt pattern forming. Have I mentioned lately how much I love this design wall? Quick Note: I hav...

A Confluence of Thoughts: February 2010

A Confluence of Thoughts. We never planted daffodils in the yard but they appeared a couple of years ago to welcome Spring. Now, I look for them each year - and I'm never disappointed when the blossoms open. Daffodils are such beautifully dainty flowers with such sunny dispositions. I didn't notice the tiny bug inside this flower until I was viewing these on the computer. I love it when surprises like that happen! The darkness of the surrounding foliage really makes the daffodils stand out. Block 4 consi...

A Confluence of Thoughts: October 2010

http://susankanderson.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

A Confluence of Thoughts. I sewed college quilts as high school graduation presents for the twins in our family. I waited until they had selected their colleges before picking up the fabric because I wanted to make the quilts in the college colors. Needless-to-say, that put me behind a bit! Our nephew is planning a film career. He's been into movie making projects since he was very young, and he's very talented. He's at Chapman University in CA.hence the red and white for that university. I'm a technical...

A Confluence of Thoughts: October 2009

http://susankanderson.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

A Confluence of Thoughts. Yes, it did get painted. I've just been very slow at getting pictures: a) taken, b) resized, c) retaken, d) resized.and it goes on and on. The problem is that the weather has been very dreary and that doesn't make for very good pictures. I like shooting with overcast skies better than in bright sunlight but we've been way beyond overcast. Like I said.dreary. Here's a splotch (is that a word? Taken even further up the street but still on a dreary day, the house looks chocolate br...

A Confluence of Thoughts: For my MIL..bird pictures

http://susankanderson.blogspot.com/2010/08/for-my-milbird-pictures.html

A Confluence of Thoughts. For my MIL.bird pictures. My mother-in-law is a great photographer and she loves taking pictures of birds. She'll wait for an hour just to get that perfect bird shot. And I like to think I'm a good photographer but I just don't have her patience. If I can't get the shot in 10 minutes (or 15 shots in 10 minutes), well, it's time to move on. Plus, my photography interest really isn't with birds. My interest is with flowers. Then there's this picture of my favorite subjects. Mary Q...

Quilt Pics: Printing on Fabric

http://quiltpics.blogspot.com/2009/01/printing-on-fabric.html

Creating quilted memories using pictures. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. I was introduced to printing on fabric back about 8 years ago and have been an enthusiastic participant since that time. In the early days, I worked as a quilting consultant for HP, designing and creating hundreds of projects for HP's. Quilting Department here in Vancouver, WA. HP conceived the idea of printing on fabric as a way to promote using its inkjet. Printers for more than just run-0f-the-mill printing on paper products.
