Quilts from the Little House

Quilts from the Little House. Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Here's my quilting this week. I have a nice little chunk of the central block done on the Big Quilt. I can't believe I picked the hottest week of the summer to start this, but it hasn't been too bad. I have good support for the quilt and haven't had to pile it on my lap at all. My treadle is handling the size really well. Hard to get a clear picture of the quilting without a flash washing it out. And these half-yard cuts are what I bought with it.

Quilts from the Little House: July 2015

http://www.quiltsfromthelittlehouse.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Quilts from the Little House. Thursday, July 30, 2015. It's finally summer weather with temperatures in the upper 80'sF. Our daughter and son-in-law were staying at a cottage on Lake Michigan (water temp was in the 70sF! And we went to see them earlier this week. This is what was happening:. New game- she throws, and Grampa pulls her over to fetch the ball. (That boat is probably about 25 years old. Her mommy and uncle used to play in it.). Here's part of it:. I used leftover all-purpose thread for my pr...

Quilts from the Little House: Distracted

http://www.quiltsfromthelittlehouse.blogspot.com/2015/08/distracted.html

Quilts from the Little House. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. I took a little vacation from the blog this past week. Well, lets just face it. I was distracted. It all started with this chair. In the garage waiting for a thrift store to pick them up). We sent a wooden rocker and an accent chair from the living room to replace the two chairs in the bedrooms. After lots of furniture shopping, we came across two chairs at a kind of unusual little store that sells hotel liquidation and estate furniture. Whatever it...

Quilts from the Little House: March 2015

http://www.quiltsfromthelittlehouse.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Quilts from the Little House. Friday, March 27, 2015. Oh, a finish feels so good! I was very close to finishing this quilt when I posted on Wednesday. I stayed up extra late that night to complete the binding. Now it's been photographed, washed and dried, and photographed again along with it's "fraternal twin." (Just yesterday, I said that I don't often repeat a quilt, and now look what I did.). Gray day. Sigh. Borrowing the neighbor's fence out of the breeze. And one more picture of the quilts together:.

Quilts from the Little House: Big Quilt Flimsy Finish

http://www.quiltsfromthelittlehouse.blogspot.com/2015/06/big-quilt-flimsy-finish.html

Quilts from the Little House. Friday, June 12, 2015. Big Quilt Flimsy Finish. That's my husband, He really didn't want to be in the picture, but even with only a light breeze, the quilt was a sail, and he needed to keep it from blowing away. I told him I'd crop him out. Right. Couldn't do it without cropping the quilt. But I think what shows of him is fine. And now to quilt. But how? I'm thinking of using a gray thread throughout. Here are some things I have to consider:. Sogiven the above considerations...

Classic Stitches BOM | Needle and Foot

https://needleandfoot.com/tag/classic-stitches-bom

Tag Archives: Classic Stitches BOM. Oh, how I love this finish! Overall, I absolutely adore this quilt. I love the bright, crazy, scrappy look, the traditional blocks that change row by row, sampler style, and the quilting that I did on each row. It was a great experience for me in a couple of different ways. Oh yeah. So by sashing them, I was able to deal with a lot of those issues. Cutting 60″ rows of sashing allowed me to ease the rows in and deal with any rows that were slightly longer ...I had a gre...

Downieville Progress | Needle and Foot

https://needleandfoot.com/2015/07/30/downieville-progress

We just got back from a long weekend in Downieville. It is finally starting to come together! Remember we bought this little bungalow on the river last November? Ray had a helper when he installed the crown mouldings. You can see there are two more windows to replace (on either side of the alcove.) Ray hasn’t decided exactly what he wants to do there so that project is on the back burner for now. Here it is now! Gorgeous, isn’t it? Did you see that cute chair in the picture above? It looks so cute in the...

ALYOF | Needle and Foot

Taming the Yellow Beast. The beast has been tamed. The pile of oversized yellow fluff has been transformed into a cozy bathrobe at last. I received so much encouragement after that last post that I decided to dive back in and take control of that yellow monster. The nice thing about this robe is the fluff. Conversely, the worst thing about this robe is the fluff! Once everything was stitched back together I tried it on. Amazing how this helped! Photo credits to my kind husband for these modeling shots&#4...

Tag Archives: double nine patch. Looks like I made it, and with a few days to spare! My ALYOF goal for August was to quilt and bind my vintage double nine patch quilt. Yahoo for setting goals. Alas, it wasn’t entirely successful. I started by doing a basic, single cable on the middle (narrowest) border. I had great help with tracing the stencil. Ian was home for the weekend and kindly traced for me. I chose her Modern Leaf pattern (which I posted. For the final, outside border I did basic straight-line q...

Wasn't Quilt in a Day. Sew, Who am I? Sisterhood of the Traveling Quilts, Part II! QuiltCon: Part I →. Let me tell you what, quilting is good for the soul. I have been needing this time to cut up fabric and put it back together again. This weekend I was able to finish all the rows for my mom’s quilt (plus some that I’m too short to reach) and now I just have to motivate myself to iron them. Is not good for the soul. And finally, I’ve been pulling fabric like a madwoman for my class with. Lololol you woul...

"T's" Are The Times to Remember: Home Page

T's Are The Times to Remember. All of us have T-shirts from our kid's sporting events, school activities and clubs. Ever wonder what to do with them? Unfortunately, most of them sit in a drawer and eventually end up in a rag box. How about making the T-shirts into a quilt? This is a great way to display youth accomplishments and life memories. T-shirt quilts are not just for sports, either. How about a quilt to reserve memories of those favorite vacations or to honor and memorialize a loved one. Bears ha...

Monday, September 27, 2010. Once again, this may be something that's not new to all you active quilters, but I hadn't seen it before: Superior. I've mislaid the original link I got there from, but what it is is a lining-type fabric that shrinks 20-30% when you steam it, so that if it's sewn to a regular fabric before it's steamed, the regular fabric has to scrunch up when the Texture Magic shrinks. Does that make sense? Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Quiltless 2010 (more or less). And it was very nice, e...
