Notes from the Basement: Old Fashioned Tweets

http://rachelcochran.blogspot.com/2011/06/old-fashioned-tweets.html

Notes from the Basement. An art quilter's search for the light switch. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. This post has been delayed more than I would like because I've been working on a book! But more about that another time. Earlier in the spring- if we actually had a spring here in NJ, and that's questionable- I was admiring my newish hedge of skip laurels in bloom. I noticed a nest on one of our fence posts. Not a great spot, thought I, so I tried my best to keep an eye on it. First it was empty. You are elegan...

http://rachelcochran.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Notes from the Basement. An art quilter's search for the light switch. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Yes, it's been one of those winters here in New Jersey: record setting. I have lost track of how many snowfalls we've had since Boxing Day, but at some point, things were starting to melt. And even though these icicles were the result of over-taxed gutters, there was hope that the snow would soon disappear. But he's not doing the shovelling. Tuesday, January 4, 2011. New Fiber Revolution Exhibit. You excel ...

Notes from the Basement. An art quilter's search for the light switch. Thursday, December 10, 2009. We had our first snow last week. Luckily we missed major accumulation, and because of the cold temps, some interesting results were left behind. And there were a few leaves still to fall. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Notes from the Basement: October 2009

http://rachelcochran.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Notes from the Basement. An art quilter's search for the light switch. Friday, October 16, 2009. How long does it take to chose the right shade of green? The answer is that there's never enough time. I chose one, it's still not perfect, but it'll do, even though I have to see it every morning. It's for the master bath, which is small. Happily the shade of blue in our dining room that I've lived with and loved for many years worked well for the hall bath. Wednesday, October 14, 2009. On a journey from tra...

The Gambia on One Blair a Day: January 2010

http://wellmeaningwhitegirl.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

The Gambia on One Blair a Day. Saturday, January 16, 2010. Behold the Book Suit! About a year and a half ago, I noticed some things:. A lot of the schools I visited had at least a few books aside from their government-issue textbooks. Some even had set up libraries. Hardly anyone used them. When they were used, it usually wasn't pretty. Books got torn; books got shelved backwards and upside down; books got lost. I had a lot of time on my hands. I also had a lot of art supplies. And a spine. (Get it?

http://wellmeaningwhitegirl.blogspot.com/2010/02/here-is-why-my-kids-are-capital-awesome.html

The Gambia on One Blair a Day. Thursday, February 11, 2010. Here is why my kids are capital-A Awesome. They admire her capacity for kicking ass (look at the purple hair; the determined expression; the detached robot arms). And her sass. Butt-length pigtails and complicated robot wiring? I'm ridiculously pleased that they all, boys and girls, think she's a hero. Civic responsibility, taking one's vitamins, defending the human race (including boys) - one could find worse role mod els in the pop canon.

Lydia's blog, http:/ lydia-travels.blogspot.com/. Has some more pix of the coiffures (mine and, of course, hers). You can also see what color it was at WAIST, before the chlorine in the American Club's pool got to it, at right. More pictures of buildings and monkeys! Yes, Veruca, there is a way to make your own. 8 meters of poplin (2 for the cover, 6 for the interior pages)*. Chalk or a pencil. A permanent marker or two. The Gambia on One Blair a Day. Monday, April 28, 2008. Region 5 celebrates its independence. Check out part of the long march past the regional governor. I wonder who the Gambian military band is homesick for. Saturday, April 19, 2008. I’m in Kombo now, as I usually am when typing these things: down for a workshop, a school visit, and the new health group’s swearing-in…and in the meantime, enjoying the variety of dairy products (cheese, yogurt and ice cream, all in one day! 3 Take a bucket bath. Has actually been advising me for several months now, but Cassandra graciously bothered to write up instructions, and the editors. Of "What's Paining You? Agreed to put them in print. So many people to be thankful for. Or "Don't let the [expletive deleted]s get you down." Not a direct quote, but within the realm of possibility. And now, to the instructions!

The Gambia on One Blair a Day. Thursday, March 4, 2010. 2 things that make me feel like a teacher. And I'm not sure how I feel about that:. 1 To celebrate Literature Week, we made posters of The Books We Love (and why). I just finished making a sign for our display. It says, "What's at the heart. Rachel Cobb  l  Soprano - Home

Rachel Cobb l Soprano. Rachel Cobb's pure soprano has the charm and fragility requisite for the role of Mimì. The cleanly articulated line in 'Mi chiamano Mimì', the beautifully floated high notes in the final scene—all testified to an artist in full command of her craft. Rachel Cobb made much of Miss Jessel's tragedy without any recourse to melodramatics in one of the best impersonations I have seen.". Proudly powered by Weebly.
