Why didn't anyone tell me this earlier? Why did I need to be told? My home away from home. (Or maybe this is my home and my apartment is my home away from home. Either works.). 9 The office can feel like a cage or a castle. 7 I will never see the inside of my home between 9 am and 5 pm ever again. I want my colleagues t...

1015 8th St. SE #209. Your Custom Text Here. December 19, 2016. When I was five, I came to the realization that I was going to die and there was nothing I could do about it. This profound realization resulted in night terrors, which essentially meant that one second I'd be laying in bed thinking about five-year-old things like Arthur and Furbies and the next, I'd be panicking over questions such as "How am I supposed to spend an eternity in heaven when I can't even sit through an hour of church? And more...

1015 8th St. SE #209. Your Custom Text Here. March 1, 2017. Shameful confession time: I've had my Facebook account for seven years, two months, and thirty days. Out of the 2,648 days that make up that seven years, two months, and thirty days, I've probably gone. Checking my Facebook for ten. Non-consecutively. And #3: Since downloading Snapchat, I have very likely spent more time watching Kylie Jenner's 'stories' than I have spent talking to my grandparents. Earlier this week, I deleted all three. Runnin...

Welcome to New York — Gina Van Thomme

1015 8th St. SE #209. Your Custom Text Here. Welcome to New York. January 30, 2017. I've always wanted to visit New York City, but planning a trip there seemed a lot like my idea of the city: too big, too expensive, and too complicated to navigate. So when I discovered that the cheapest route to visiting a friend in Maine required catching a connecting flight out of New York City, I decided that spending a few hours of my layover exploring would be the perfect, non-overwhelming introduction to the city.

Feels Like Home — Gina Van Thomme

1015 8th St. SE #209. Your Custom Text Here. September 11, 2016. It has been just over a week since my latest move. I survived the packing guilt of realizing I own 78 sweaters. The trauma of shoving an oversized couch through an undersized door is beginning to wear off. The moving boxes have been emptied and thrown in the recycling bin without being broken down because I am a bad person who was too lazy to find a pair of scissors. I have unpacked and rehung my 78 sweaters.
