From Philly to Chile: October 2008

http://phillytochile.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

From Philly to Chile. Friday, October 31, 2008. I've uploaded more pictures from the past month or so- check out new ones  here. Or older ones  here. Also, check out the video below to get a glimpse of our descent down the volcano! It's definitely not the most attractive view of my voice (do I really speak that high-pitched? Oh and fyi- I'm taking the video while pausing on the luge course to watch my friend Marni slide down, then I start sliding down myself.  . Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Throughout the ...

From Philly to Chile: it's a small world after all

http://phillytochile.blogspot.com/2008/11/its-small-world-after-all.html

From Philly to Chile. Friday, November 28, 2008. It's a small world after all. It amazes me that in a city of 15 million people, few days pass by where I don't run into someone I know on the street/on the metro/in the bathroom. Despite everyone's unique comings and goings, we all seem to collide at some point or another. Character 1: Angry lady. I'm suing you for false advertising! Character 2: Chilean Jon Krasinski:. Character 3: Parking lot Einstein. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Gringo(a): forei...

From Philly to Chile. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. We started off this week attending International Student Orientation Day at the University of Chile (La Chile). Had a fun-filled morning in the auditorium learning how to register for courses, how to use the libraries, hearing about why U. Chile is the best university in the world, etc etc. Met some people from other programs who are studying in Chile as well - people from California, Spain, Germany, Japan.everywhere! Toured around the very interesting (and...

From Philly to Chile: home for the holidays

From Philly to Chile. Saturday, December 13, 2008. Home for the holidays. Hugh Grant, intro of. There are few moments in real life that live up to their respective portrayal in movies. However, the cherished reunion with loved ones is one of those rare times where we mere mortals experience a corny picture-perfect moment come to life. After 9.5 hours on the plane (in an exit row seat, thank goodness! So I suppose this means that study abroad is officially over. . My family is just as goofy and loveable a...

From Philly to Chile: August 2008

http://phillytochile.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

From Philly to Chile. Friday, August 29, 2008. Found an amazing park near my house. Went running there in the morning and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was fairly deserted. Much different than parks in the US, which are often filled with housewives and their kids on weekday mornings. One day I will take pictures of this park to show how cool it is, but here are some of its attributes:. 2) a giant birdhouse. 3) a bmx/roller skating stunt park. 6) a garden with a labyrinth maze running through it.

http://phillytochile.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

From Philly to Chile. Sunday, September 28, 2008. My new favorite thing. It's called a piolet. and it's kind of amazing. This sunday, i went on an unofficial mountaineering excursion. however, considering there were about 70 kids from the different mountaineering classes our instructor some assistants, it was about as official as it could be. but we´re keeping that on the down low. You know what, i feel like climbing a mountain today. I climbed that mountain today! I love this country. A lifesaver, and.

From Philly to Chile: question of the day

http://phillytochile.blogspot.com/2008/11/question-of-day.html

From Philly to Chile. Friday, November 28, 2008. Question of the day. In preparation for my return home, I've been trying to think of how to summarize my chilean experience in a few simple sentences. Still working on that.it's been tougher than I thought. So have you met any natives down there? Maybe my perspective is just skewed because I'm used to associating the word "native" with "Native American" or native tribes. Nonetheless, it's going to be hard to have patience with trying to explain that Ch...

Match Report: Shamrock Bowl 2015. August 12, 2015. August 12, 2015. By Rachel In Ireland. It’s that time of year again. Shamrock Bowl time. Words on experience and life design. Designing for a Sustainable World. A delayed post on the line-up of interesting speakers I heard at World Usability Day, the theme of which focused on the intersection between sustainability and usability. VerTerra, Michael Dwork's company, creates disposable plates out of dead palm leaves. In addition to being durable, beautiful and compostable, I was struck by the dependency of their creation- they can only. The answer, in short: it can be used to persuade, inspire ...
