Rachel's Victory through Christ. Monday, January 21, 2013. Today we went in to have Mom's port removed. That's the quarter-sized device surgically inserted into a vein by Mom's upper chest. It stayed under her skin for an entire year, and was how the nurses accessed Mom's circulatory system to give her chemo treatments, (by sticking a needle in through the skin, into the port). Rachel smith.all about me. I have a sister called Isla, and she always looks after me. She is the best sister in the whole world. I had my 4th birthday in hospital, and I had my 5th birthday in hospital too! But I have just had my 6th birthday, and I was NOT in hospital YIPPEEE! And hopefully on my 7th birthday, I might not have leukaemia any more. Which is weird, because I can't remember not having leukaemia.
