Loving the simple life. Monday, 2 January 2012. The end of the day - hats drying in front of the fire - the view from my spinning wheel. Christmas is officially over chez Little Shoots. Once we get to new years eve I get a little OCD and down come the decorations amid much sadness. We do have Epiphany to look forward to, however! I have dabbled a little, but this year I would like to take it further, experiment more and keep great notes ; - D. I currently have some lichen (Parmotrema perlatum) fermenting in an ammonia solution (1 p ammonia 2 p water). It started off a lovely golden colour, has changed to rust and then deepened. I have two daughters, aged 6 and 9. I think that our scriptures for memory work are rather short, as this year they have memorised much longer passages, so I most likely will update those through the year. Friday, June 19, 2009. Our small herd of French Alpine dairy goats provides us with sweet milk and homemade cheese and soap. Our milkers consist of 2-3 does producing a gallon or more of milk a day.
