Raising Readers

Inspiring readers with Susanne Estes. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. What I'm Reading This Summer. A few weeks ago I decided to read a "grown-up" book for fun. We were at a relatives house who has A LOT of books. I decided on "The Time Travelers Wife". It had really good reviews and was recently made into a movie. I opened the book and didn't want to read it! What's wrong with me? I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I prefer juvenile fiction! Now, I guess I'll have to watch the television show. Just so I don't sou...

I wanted to do this before my man turned one so here are things you have done this month or things that we LOVE about you! 3 This month you stood up on your own and started running. on the concrete and falling on your face. You had your first bloody nose this month. 4 You get so giggly before bedtime. You just lean your headback and laugh and laugh. It is my favorite time of the day. 7 You l...

My partner in crime. May 5, 2013 in Uncategorized. Holy 10 months batman. How did this happen to me? So here are 10 things I am thankful for in this crazy month. 1 You are a crazy yet cautious little thing. When in the house there is no stopping your ambition and climbing and crawling and hammering and screaming but when you are in a new location you are very cautious – you analyze everything around you. We are exhausted by the time you go to bed. 6 You sleep like a champ. 9 At daycare there is a walker ...

Raising Raw

Stop by, say hi. Friday, April 12, 2013. Thursday, February 14, 2013. Heart Shaped Raw Cookies. My kids had no idea it was Valentine’s Day today, nor do they have any idea what Valentine’s Day is. I love that our children are so far removed from the lives we lived in San Diego just one year ago, living a new life, in our little village in the jungle, that Valentine’s day has no meaning, it’s just another day. The Boo-Hoo Yahoo days. Last Wednesday was the day before the first day of school. It was the day before everything changed. It was the last day of life as we had known it thus far. No big deal. And today, this third day of school and first Monday, when the oldest cried and panicked before getting out of the car at drop off and her father and I teared up driving away, I know we can do this. We can do hard things. The transition may be full of boo-hoos and yahoos but we are brave and we can do it! So we t...
