This afternoon, the children and I sat in the garden and enjoyed a piece of Lottie's birthday cake. We got chatting about the cakes they have had for each birthday over the last few years. Thomas remembered most of them. Lottie remembered the last few but not the ones from her first few birthdays so this evening I've sat at the computer and looked back at all the birthday cakes I've made them.

I didn't like the recipes I found online, so I invented this one, with the added benefit of using my garden's roma tomatoes. 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed (can use refried). 1 lb ground beef. 1 T chili powder. 1/2 tsp. garlic powder. 1/2 tsp. onion powder. 1/2 tsp. dried oregano. 1/2 tsp. ground cumin. 1/4 tsp. salt. 2 cups fiesta blend grated cheese. 1 can sliced black olives. 3 sliced green onions. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
