通过对 神意 的特殊理解，他提出了神人关系信仰，肯定人与神和诸神有亲属关系并分有神的理性，由此显示人在所有被造物中是 首要的存在 同时，他将人的意志不能控制的外在事物归于神意，揭示了神对人的意志选择的训练意图并赋予外在事物以积极的训练意义，要求人以顺应神意、服从自然的方式处置外在事物给人的 印象 ，从而使人在获得自由的生活实践中达到理性与神意的一致。 同时，他又特别强调人的自由 ἐλευθερία, freedom ， 视之为哲学生活的最终目的。 这就产生一个问题 既然世界为神所主宰，人的自由如何可能 或者说，在一个被决定的世界里，人能够在何处、以何种方式实现其自由 此外，对神的信仰如何与哲学所要求的理性相调和，也不免存在疑问。 通过对 神意 πρόνοια, Providence 作出特殊理解，他诠释了神人关系及人在宇宙中的地位，赋予一切被决定的事物以积极意义，从而使得决定论与人的自由融贯一致 一个被决定的世界，不仅不是自由的障碍，相反可以成为自由的训练场。 谈到主导世界的 神 时，爱比克泰德一般用单数 God或Zeus ，有时也会用复数 gods。 首先，根据神 God 是人的 父亲 这一断定，可以...
