Sunday, April 30, 2006. Thanks to everyone in the class, and to Dr. Amidon, for making Research Methods a pleasant and refreshing experience. I intend to exercise my newfound skills on other blogs in other communities. And I intend to keep on researching! Posted by Bruce at 3:43 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Research Methods: What If My Proposal Is Considered?

http://www.researchmethods49.blogspot.com/2006/04/what-if-my-proposal-is-considered.html

Tuesday, April 18, 2006. What If My Proposal Is Considered? During my initial correspondence with the publisher of my first (and so far only) book, we traded perhaps 10 or 12 letters before a definite course of action was decided upon. Then a contract was signed. I would imagine that many nonfiction books come into being the same way. Lots of thinking and planning by the author, with lots of revisions and tweaking suggested by the publisher, before real work can commence. Posted by Bruce at 6:40 PM.

Research Methods

http://www.researchmethods49.blogspot.com/2006/01/dr.html

Sunday, January 15, 2006. One thing I do remember about the book is that Herzog was having (or trying to have) a sexual relationship with a woman and was having difficulty in continuing the sexual liaison because of sharp pains somewhere below his waist. For an excellent review of this book, and of others that Bellow wrote, check out. Philip Roth wrote the reviews for The New Yorker. In 2000. Bellow died in April of 2005. Posted by Bruce at 2:24 PM. Thanks. I think it's fixed now. I've seen books that co...

Research Methods: Data Coding Applied

http://www.researchmethods49.blogspot.com/2006/02/data-coding-applied.html

Friday, February 24, 2006. Well, I became pretty good at analyzing lines of fiction and finding topics and subjects. Then I finished the book and didn’t have to exercise my newly developed skill. My brain has, by now, returned to its previous diminutive size. Gives me the shivers. Posted by Bruce at 6:11 AM. Is this something you've published already, or is it still in the works? I'd love to read something like this. Do tell . . . It was published in 1995. The title is "Novel Openers.". What do you do wh...

Research Methods: Fieldwork

http://www.researchmethods49.blogspot.com/2006/02/fieldwork.html

Sunday, February 12, 2006. The reading assignment for Monday, Chapter 1 of. By Sunstein and Chiseri-Strater, is chockfull of stuff about - what else? The ethnographic article Friday Night at Iowa 80 by Rick Zollo is a well-written and concise study of the culture at a large truck stop in Iowa. Concerning the chapter content itself, I was particularly pleased to read that it is not always objectivity. Or detachment that allows us to study culture, our own or that of others. Subjectivity. I am also happy t...

After receiving a request for this, I thought I would try to explain how to go about making a link list of classmates' blogs in an entry so anyone that wants to try it can (hopefully) add it to their blog, and make it easier for the class to maneuver from blog to blog. Writing Everything: January 2006

Tuesday, January 31, 2006. I apologize for not being in class today due to a family crisis. It was a fabulous original piece. Something I would like to experiment with later in my writings. Sunday, January 29, 2006. Thursday, January 26, 2006. On a side note, I find it really interesting how the style becomes more relaxed as we go from the progression of technical writing, to academic writing, to journalistic writing this far. In a way it makes me wonder how these types of styles became labeled to th...

Writing Everything: April 2006

http://writingeverything.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Research is something you never stop doing. Anytime you are finding information you are researching and the method you use differs everytime. This class made me aware of that. Everytime I research I am looking at my method as well as how I am going to analyze my results. Doing this has increased my ability to be an effective researcher and that is what I am taking away from the class. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Writing Everything: My proposal

http://writingeverything.blogspot.com/2006/02/my-proposal_14.html

Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Because my proposal is surrounding my picture book, it has caused me to go back and reevaluate my picture book again. I'm doing this to go over the focus of what the book is about and who my target audience is. By doing this, it is helping me to narrow who my target audience is for my proposal. Sunday, March 05, 2006. I have been trying to figure out the best w. Ay to display samples of my. Picture book that I am doing my proposal on. I thought it would give a better understanding of what the book was about. Finally, I decided to post a sample of the book itself. This isn't the complete book but it will give an idea of what is going on in it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). In response to Professor Amidons blog. Off the subject but onto something I love. INF 1240: Group 1 Blog

INF 1240: Group 1 Blog. Friday, December 10, 2010. This has been a very interesting experience! I enjoyed learning the different ways to approach research proposals, and how much work goes into writing one! The two required texts were great and aided greatly in the final proposal, especially Luker's "Nitty-Gritty" chapter. The Peer Review Assignment. The proposal.oh the proposal! I thoroughly enjoyed my topic, and if I ever pursue research, I would explore this topic again! Monday, December 6, 2010.
