sisterpastor: April 2010

Thursday, April 22, 2010. Cancer is over and Life returns. So, this is the first week I've been responsible for family meals again. I thank God for Chick Fil A! I'm wondering if our family could just sign up for home cooked meals every spring. They could start coming when softball begins and end when the last tennis match is over. :) (Of course next year there will be NO MORE SOFTBALL! Don't EVEN get me started! What was I THINKING? I mean I tossed away entire stacks of "I've got to get on that" projects!

Tuesday, July 13, 2010. The Glorious Fish Bowl. As I write this post, I'm in another state, far away from Tennessee and my church family. I'm enjoying the glory of the Lord in the mountains- a glory that is only there. :). Ever since that day we've lived our life honestly and openly in front of our people. I know that many pastors and especially their wives might think we are crazy for doing that.but we have to lead the way God's told us to lead, and this seems to be the way He wants us to do it. One of ...

sisterpastor: Hope Deferred Makes the Heart Sick
http://sisterpastor.blogspot.com/2011/02/hope-deferred-makes-heart-sick.html
Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Hope Deferred Makes the Heart Sick. I've been thinking a whole lot about the Proverb that says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." What does that mean? I've come to the conclusion that it's talking about me this year- having my hope wrapped around whether or not circumstances will change (quickly) to bring peace to the storm and wholeness to what is broken. In essence, I want what God wants! Isn't He all about peace and wholeness? That's my "hope.". Streams in the Desert.

Monday, September 27, 2010. I love the Class of 2011. Don't tell the classes of 2010 or 2013, but this one is and always has been my favorite. Ever since they were babies in the nursery at church I have loved them. There were always more of them. As they grew up we scrambled to find them enough rooms and teachers. The class of 2011 is filled with leaders and question askers and dreamers and mischief-makers. Is what I live for. :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. Riding on the BandWagon.

Monday, February 28, 2011. 15 Things My Grandma Smith Taught Me. As a tribute to my Grandma Smith (whom we buried yesterday beside my Papa at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church just a 1/4 mile from the house where they lived for most of their lives). 1 I'm never too old to hold my husband's hand. 3 Even very young grandchildren can help fry chicken if you have a paper sack. 4 Girlfriends are important and the party line is way more fun than facebook. 11 Don't ever stop believing in Santa Claus! 13 When li...

Saturday, November 27, 2010. Hearing the Voice of God. So, I've been teaching people to pray for years now, and one question that I hear a lot is: "How do I hear the voice of God? The first person who asked me this was my daughter Kaleigh. She was six. "Mama, I know that when I pray, I talk to God. But how does He talk to me? I hear Daddy when he talks to me; I hear you when you talk to me; but I don't hear God? Why doesn't he just talk to me like you do? I haven't come to that place. I have a will o...

Friday, April 29, 2011. We just celebrated Easter. On Friday night we attended the Secret Church Simulcast and heard excellent teaching on the Doctrine of Salvation by David Platt. It was a perfect way to commemorate "Good Friday.". What did they do on Saturday? I would imagine that some of them laid on the ground and cried in anguish like I did last summer. Others probably stared at the walls and questioned everything they'd ever believed about Him. Saturday was a long day. If you're living in the LONG ...

And Other Evidence of God's Goodness). She was MY RUBY! December 10, 2013. I had a couple of relatives and friends who asked for a copy. This was the easiest way for me to make it available, so here goes:. What did she teach me over the 45 years that I spent with her? She taught me to love, in so many, many ways! She taught me how to laugh! Her sense of humor was such fun! I still remember the summer day when Grandma Holtz was the mastermind behind a prank trapping my Grandma Noble in the outhouse! She t...

sisterpastor: Reflections in July
http://sisterpastor.blogspot.com/2011/07/reflections-in-july.html
Sunday, July 10, 2011. I'm not sure of the exact date but in July 1975 I asked Jesus to be my Savior while I listened to a man sing "O Holy Night" at Camp Pinnacle in the North Georgia Mountains. We were celebrating Christmas in July and somehow taking the baby away from the trimmings, I was able to understand how very near He was to the cross. This July we celebrated Tom's 48th birthday. That's right.my good husband is only two years shy of 50 and I'm right behind him! Spiritual Warfare for Women. Inter...
