Spec Fic Logo Contest: nz_fandom
http://nz-fandom.livejournal.com/6873.html
Spec Fic Logo Contest. I am currently running a logo contest for the writers association I’ve founded here in New Zealand. SpecFicNZ will finally launch in 2010 and we need a kick-ass logo to plaster on our website, print on our promotional material, and tattoo on the foreheads of all the Core members. If you are an artist, a wanna-be-artist, or simply a rad doodler, we would love to see your most creative logo ideas. Entries are free, easy, and you can make up to five of them. Post a new comment.

Necrophagous Shadows: June 2010
http://nzwriter.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. Wow, that was the worst exit from the World Cup I've seen England make since I started paying attention in about 1998. I mean, wow. Were they always this crap? And of course there was *cheating* and *robbery* involved, in the form of a goal that was disqualified even though it really was a goal, so we're going to hear about that for about the next forty years or so. I've got to say, I wasn't really disgusted until I read this excerpt from an article in the Guardian.

Richard Barnes - Writer: May 2013
http://richardbarneswriter.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Richard Barnes - Writer. Friday, May 31, 2013. DOCTOR WHO REVIEW - Nightmare in Silver. Now we’re cooking with gas, or to be more accurate, Neil Gaiman is. I said in my review of Cold War that it was nudging The Snowmen and Asylum of the Daleks in quality. Nightmare in Silver is right up alongside those two – rating as one of the best Nu-Who’s of them all, and definitely the best Nu-Who Cyberman story. Next time – The Name of the Doctor. Which has some of my UK chums in a right tizzy – in...And now, can ...

Free Food and Batman - Wellington and Auckland: nz_fandom
http://nz-fandom.livejournal.com/6636.html
Free Food and Batman - Wellington and Auckland. I am a Masters student at the University of Canterbury, working on a thesis on comic book readers, superheroes and masculinities. I’m looking for people who read superhero comics. Who would be willing to take part in a group interview about what they read, and what they do/don’t enjoy about superhero comics. Any readers from casual to hard core fans are ok, as long as they're over 18 (for legal, not dodgy reasons). I’m coming up to Wellington. My website, w...

Slushpile Avalanche: Story Titles
http://slusheditor.blogspot.com/2014/02/story-titles.html
The continuing adventures of a slushpile editor, or how to get your story to the top of the slushpile. Click HERE, post a question in the comments, and I'll answer it in a blog post. Go ahead. Ask me. Monday, February 17, 2014. Imagine yourself at Barnes and Noble. How do you browse for books? Most books aren't shelved with the cover facing you. No books are shelved so you can easily browse the back-cover or inside-cover blurb. What faces you first is the title. And that's what I see first, too. Irma Spl...
